Right then,

2008 Factory:

I know what 'service' means (not the wife).

The book shows a first and second service at 750 and 4,800 miles, and the dealer did oil and filter at 5,900 miles when I bought it.

But 'service' came up on the dash on the way back from a trackday at Brands, with about 6,500 miles on.

Does it come up on the dash on a timer/miles counter, i.e. does it mean that the dealer I bought it from didn't reset the counter, or does 'service' actually mean that something needs looking at?

No warning lights, no fault codes, no running problems (except that the pilot's not fast enough in Graham Hill Bend and Surtees).

Thanks fellas

I belive that the service light comes on at pre set intervals. It dosent get set at the service when its done ( which would be useful). So in your case the light isnt telling you the bike needs servicing.

The manual lists some combination of dash buttons that lets you clear it yourself, as I remember.
