If you have the stock ecu, it probably has the “up” map for an Akra can etc.  The race ecu has maps to allow for a full decat exhaust system and is unlocked so it can be re mapped at a later date.

From memory the oem exhaust is at least 2 stage so cats in the silencer and one probably in a link pipe.  Depending on the can you may have lost the one in the can but retain the other.  The “”up” map tweaks the fueling to suit.

The race ecu allows for a complete decat system and custom tuning and I think deletion of the lambda sensors.  The oem ecu “up” map is likely a bit conservative by tuning standards. As in nice and safe for your engine etc.

Don’t forget the ecu has abs and traction control settings etc as well so the race ecu will allow those parameters to be customised.

no cats in the link pipe, only the end can, on a 17-19

the race ecu is essentially a fully unlocked ECU which will not check for flapper valves or try to detect any tampering etc

Got ya. Doesn’t the Aprilia Akra come with 2 link pipes. 1 with a cat for road use and a non cat version for track only ?

Thats the one I've got the one without the cat I have the same end can and it does say race use only so I don't think it will have a cat built in to it is there a way you can tell if it as a race ecu or a standard aprilia map for this akro put in the standard ecu

The part number on the ecu itself should tell you for sure.
