It was only the weekend I said I would never sell the "R" but I'm afraid it has to go to fund a Buell which I have lusted after for years and before I move on to a bobber and a slower pace (thanks to watching sons of anarchy).

Bike is a stunner. Showing 24k but had a 12k "R" engine dropped in after I over tightened the chain and damaged spindle and casing. All work carried out by John Carr's at Alfreton who serviced and set up the bike for me about 400 miles ago and compared to my old Mille it's like chalk and cheese.

Mods wise....

Motobatt 16 fat battery and uprated starter ....perfect every start
Cut down Fireblade stand ....no scary moments
Big boot and hooked air box ......spectacular induction noise
AP rear sets and HRC tube .....look great, back brake works, comfortable.
Tinted screen plus original .......black on black looks great.
Factory Racing folding levers .....not shorties so comfortable
Staintune shotgun with removable baffles plus original mint exhaust. ....oh the sound
Headlight cover, RnG mushrooms and all original bits.

All the normal "R" bits obviously and in great condition due to my bike OCD with maybe 400 miles on new tyres all light road use. I can't fault the bike and will be sad to see it go but wife won't let me have two.

£3k buys it ......before it goes on eBay in standard form.

Any questions or to view get in touch

WANTED!

That does look stunning Steve and it must be worth £3K. You sure you know what you're doing though, will the Buell really do it for you?

It's about the longest I have had a bike which is the measure of how good this bike is and the forum adds to the pleasure of owning one of these but I have always fancied the Buell before I go all "Sons of Anarchy" and get a bobber.

Never fancied the early ones with the Hardly engine,or the first Rotax engined ones but the last EBR version was something else.

Eric Buell has some great ideas but I think the main problem is there is nothing more conservative ( small c) than a motorcycle rider.

Nobody wants innovation, they all want to be seen on what the racers are winning on,until Rossi or Marquez win MotoGp on something radical then the big companies won't touch anything revolutionary.

Classic case being a Hossack front end,a home built special with a nearly standard motor was winning races about 10 years after it was built ,it was that superior to tele forks.  It took BMW years to take up the concept ,and only when the patent expired.

Just a pity they didn't get Hossack himself on board and do the job properly, rather than the half way house Duo-Lever they ended up with.

Motor cycles today are still nothing more than bicycles with engines, only people like Eric Buell,Norman Hossack,Di Fazio and a couple of italians have ever thought outside the box.

Not sure I entirely agree with that. Look at the amount of Hossack etc front ends on the custom scene. Innovation is great if it works and if you look at how bikes have changed over the last decade, it's electronics, weight reduction and packaging where the innovation is being applied. Look at the RSV4 aprc beside a gen1 Mille. In contrast some of Buells ideas are pointless gimmick. Fuel in frame has potential from a mass centralisation pov but the oil in the swingarm idea? Not so much and it adds to unsprung weight. And then there's the ridiculous rim mount brake which was supposed to reduce fade but didn't. And here's a thought...how many Panigales have been sold worldwide? And how many people watched it and the frameless Desmosedici show consistant success before buying one? Innovation is alive and well...unfortunately some of it is sh*t!

I bought this bike and very pleased with it but I am concerned that it is to much of a good road bike to take to the track anyone interested? Thanks Kevin 07596467151 or pm
