I Know you must have heard this before. Please don't just click back. Guide me! After 15 years of riding inline four japanese bikes, something finally broke and I decided to go the way of the V. I love it. Riding back from the dealer after trading in my ZX9-R was the first real new experience i have had in donkeys. I almost feel like a learner again!!! I am newly inspired but require guidance! I ride "road fast" and do the occasional trackday in med/fast. The bike is on Metzeller Sportec's at the reccomended sizes and I have no idea what the suspension settings are. What are the reccomended V-twin tyres and what are the base performance suspension settings (13 stone). Given the time of year I don't want to stretch things to get minimum info, so please spill your heads to me. FOR SOME REASON THE REAR IS WORN TO THE EDGE BUT THE FRONT IS SHOWING PROPPER CHICKEN STRIPS LIKE THE FIRST BLADE USED TO DO - WHY? I already hate the numberplate holder. Tell me I can burn it and get a cool replacement. I have ordered a Scorpion race Carbon can. Will I need to re chip it or summat? Some say no, others say yes. Fact heads, step forward. Lastly, is there anyone in Cheshire or surrounding areas who fancies a ride out in nice weather if we get some? Steady ride in anything but good weather. Phil Smoke 'em if you brung 'em.

Why, thank you kind sir! Refreshing to hear someone who has the same experiences! The model is a mille 2001. The rideout idea sounds top once we get some dry weather. (indian summer?) BAAAAAAD time to buy a bike!!!!! The chicken strip thing is baffling me. The 1st Blade used to do that because it had an odd sized tyre to make up for the silly front wheel. This has a sensible front. What's going on? Smoke 'em if you brung 'em.

Hello Mr Sausage V-Twins? Fantastic! I'd ridden fours for a few years before I saw the light, brother. Amen. I noticed the front/rear difference on mine after I'd bought it from the previous owner. He ran Dunlop 207's with the rear pretty squared off and not all the way to the edge. I put on Michelin Pilots and took the rear to the edge, but the front had some way to go - same now with the 014's I've got on... Is it a geometry thing? On the exhaust can thing. IMHO I'd go for the can plus chip. I've just taken off an Aprilia Evo 2-1 can with it's Evo performance chip and replaced it with an Acropovic 2-2 with Evoluzione chip (the Evo chip'n'can are for sale if anyone's interested[:)]). I do the two together 'cos I've read/heard that the machine flows more gas and is less restrictive to gases escaping the cylinder so more spent mixture escapes which means you can get more in during the next intake cycle so the mixture can be richer to exploit the potential for more power. Otherwise bikes with race cans can run a bit lean which could I guess burn out valves, eventually[?] Anyway - the sound alone is worth paying for a good can. It's also worth fitting a race kit airbox as the induction roar is intoxicating and can be accessed well below the speeds necessary with many 4's.[8D] Mother Nature rides a biker

When I got my 2000 RSV this summer, I took off the Diablo Corsas and put on Metzeller Sportek M1’s, with a 190 rear for cosmetic purposes. But a 180 rear allows you to corner at less lean angle for each speed. I prefer the feel of the Metzellers. They seem to track, grip and turn better and hopefully will last longer than the Diablo’s. Ive got 5mm chicken strips at the back and quite a bit wider at the front, but I’m working on it. I’m thinking of getting a freer breathing can and air filter. I understand all I have to do is cut a wire on the ecu and it reverts to a fuel map suitable for race cans. I’m hoping this will improve response, and add some berries all the way up the curve.

http://www.geocities.com/sl_mille/derestrict.html This shows how to do it on the Falco - it's the same for the Mille. Mother Nature rides a biker

Thanks!!! I still can't figure out the chicken strip thing. Either the front is under used or the back is over used. Bizarre. I have noticed that my throttle is very heavy. Is this normal? It takes a concious effort to turn and this effects steering. It also hurts after a while! I am out on it tomorrow if anyone wants a run! Smoke 'em if you brung 'em.

Mr Cumberland, you're throttle should'nt be stiff! It should be very smooth and able to rotate freely with very little pressure. The Mille's a race bike and spins up quickly.... Follow the throttle cable from the grip to the tank, remove the tank and follow them to the inlets. If nothing's obvious you may have to dismantle the grip. If you still don't know I'd take it to a dealer - you don't want it sticking open at 4000rpm in 3rd!! Mother Nature rides a biker

totally agree with last message your throttle should be realy easy to turn sounds like your cable is wrongly routed or there is corrosion between the inner and outer of the cable.

just out of curiosity on the throttle issue, what do the bar ends look like, do you by any chance have aftermarket bar ends and could there be with out noticing it a throttle lock, ths wold answer why the throttle is stiff with out you knowing, say if it is stuck half on or off if you like....... Look like this maybe
