Hi out there
I have had my Falco for just over 3 month now,and have love every moment on it.
But now have had to get a new engine for it.
it got just over 18,000 miles on the clock.
the engine locked up, so we took it out and found 2 problems.
First the rear cylinder had a broken oil scraper ring.
And second one of the bolts that holds the generater( Stator) to the starter clutch gear, had worked lose and mashed the hole lot up.
And was just wanting to see if anybody had had anything like this happen to them. TIM[?]

Not yet and I hope to f**k I don't! Sorry to hear that you've got that serious a problem. I may have £4-600 worth of repairs needed to my RSV so I'm currently looking around breakers for motors which are showing up at £700 and above - it's worth paying that when aprilia are charging £150.00 for a 'sprag-clutch' which looks like a gear with a one-way bearing race set within it. I can't see the engineering complexity/value in the cost, but I'm sure a nice man from aprilia will attempt to convince me otherwise[8)]

I'm also sorry to here about your bike.
As you say the price of part just seems to be a number they think up in there heads and double it. I was lucky a mate had a spare engine that he had for his race bike, and sold it to me at a very good price (£500).
Good luck in finding one for your bike.

That mad have you tried to get one of the after market companys to make them up for you. I had some made for my last bike, and they were only about £20 a side.As for the falco we got the engine in this week and have been out on it. Running like a dream.
