After failing an mot for headlight dipping the wrong way (on my 03rsv), i since purchased a uk light from a breaker. BUT i fitted it and took the bike for the re-test and to my frustration this also dips right and seems to be another euro light!
I was clear as day on the phone to the breaker that it was a uk light i needed and he was positive that the one he had was uk spec. Basically before i demand my money back and give him an earful im wondering is there any way in which a uk light could be so badly adjusted or wired in wrong or any other ideas that would make it dip the wrong way? I'm working from the assumption that the only things affecting the beam pattern are the shapes in the diffuser/ shiney facetted internal part of the light and very possibly the lens to a small degree. Is this right?
The two confounding thing that make me want to check in case there are other factors that affect the beam are
1. The button to switch between full beam and dipped seems to work in the opposite way as it is labelled;
2. when looking into the silver shiney reflecter/ diffuser part there are two channels running either side of the bulb, one is smooth the other slightly textured. I assume this is what throws the dipped beam to one side. BUT on the two lights i have they are the opposite way around which is why i assumed the replacement i put in was going to work?
Sorry to be so longwinded but thought i best seek better guidance than my own before an angry phone call.
