ThanksWinkWink.
Thought it was a show pony when I first saw it, then test rode it and it didn’t disappoint- 1 owner, low miles (genuine according to the docs too) and fsh.
Question - do you think I should change it to PS5 or do you think Haga would have something to say about it ;-)

Very personal choice really. If it was my bike I'd take all the stickers off and have it original.

Agreed - should only be on gen1…I didn’t do it, honest.
Pillion seat cover could do with lacquering too.

Personal  choice regarding decals of course,I tend towards the less is more view but yours do actually kind of blend in the general Aprilia 'shell suit' kind of look and don't look out of place unless you know what a Gen1 Haga rep should look like.

My vote would be lose all the add ons and go just plain standard.

Of note, I seem to recall the rear seat cowl should be in the satin finish along with the side panels is that correct? It was a gloss/satin two tone combo I think ?

Nice clean models look best. What’s going on with the Akra stickers on the end cans too?

Pretty sure 2004 bikes had seat covers in Aprilia black which is the same colour as the tank, seat fairing etc. You can confirm it via the parts list online, it’s the only black available for that year. As per the pic below from the Aprilia catalogue

Looks gloss to me. I owned a red one from new in 04 but considered black at the dealer but I don’t recall the seat pod being Matt.

Been looking into it and the first use of Diablo black ( satin) on seat cowls is on the 05/6 Tuono. So I wonder if bikes with satin cowls have had a tuono version retro fitted due to loss/damage/preference.

Below is a pic of a bike with the aprilia black version which looks gloss. Above that is the Diablo black ( Tuono version )

That's 100% satin black to my eyes and a quick Google shows me that it was a gloss and satin model in 2004.

100% it is gloss and satin in 04 for the side panels. It’s only the seat cover I have my doubts about. I can only say based my recollection and Aprilia not listing a satin seat cower for 04.

I have the original brochure somewhere which has much more info and pics. Will see if I can find it.

I would love to see the brochure and I can't see mine and all the other 04s having changed the seat pod to a later coloured one.

Liam

If your 04 cowl is satin and has a Factory sticker on it (one side will only rings a bell too ?) then it’s exactly what I’ve seen several times.

It matches the side panels and as I took it was to mirror and have a theme on the bike.

It may of had a run of gloss finished ones as Colin points out perhaps and then reserved the satin for Tuono’s or being Aprilia, put what was available at the time. I can’t imagine someone buying a genuine factory sticker for the seat cowl.
Also isn’t the orange/red flash in front of the intergrated red reflector on the factory one also? That same sticker should be (minus factory) on the Mille

Edit the factory sticker I mentioned may just say rsv 1000 and be on the right hand side of the seat cowl thinking of it

….will anyone care if I lacquer the seat hump?
And:
The stickers on the cans are old and worn - in keeping with the rider.

Honda sticker - never!
I have had the comment that PS2 is a bit out of date and that they should be removed, from she who must be obeyed and my grandson.
I don’t think either of them are into pink flowers though ;-)
Nice to see that it sparked a lively debate too.

I messaged AF1 re seat cowls. They said they are satin oem but not Diablo black as per the Tuono, just uncoated Aprilia black. it was common to clear coat the seat cowl or fit the gloss version from the 05 model year. Sometimes by dealers if it clinched a deal.

I couldn’t find my gen2 brochure but did find the 98/99 Rsv and 2000 Rsv/rsvr/sp which were interesting to read again.
