The modded gen 1 exhaust pipes with an Akrapovic can going for 50 quid?

Whoever it was got it just after I had got my first (in a long time) pay check. Cry

If it was someone on here, any idea if that actually is an Akrapovic can? The sticker's upside down aint it?

Me and forum search don't work well,  but what are the gains by going from standard down pipes/standard exhaust to standard down pipes/after other exhaust, 2 into 2 system, standard system/shotgun exhaust, modded downpipes/ other exhaust and modded downpipes/shotgun exhaust (if that's a thing?).

Firstly it wasn't me Wink

Best is an akra system (or any exotic really)

Mod a gen2 full system

For most of us who haven't got highly modded engines the best combo in my mind is one of Redratbike's modded collectors with a decent, long, can mounted.

Akra, or their made for Aprilia Evo Racing can would be my choice

Tbh I don't think it makes a vast difference as these engines are very agricultural. That is until you swap the standard single can setup with a modded collector and get the co set properly. This makes the bike feel like it's suddenly got a bigger capacity engine.

Looking forward to the next track day

Dual exhausts are a lot of money but will give the best gains in power when coupled with a matching eprom

However a modded collector coupled with a good eprom will give nigh on the same gains

My collectors are £140 exchange plus postage
An eprom is approx £50

So still works out less than the cost of dual system ......gain is approx 10bhp in the midrange

Adding a race can to the above is a must to help it breathe .. stumpy cans do work with a modded collector but the best is still a long fan with at least  60mm diameter  link-pipe , or something like the shotguns mentioned

Just fitting a race can with no eprom will give a dip in midrange

I can vouch for Marks modded collector with an FR200 chip and a straight through can, which in my case is a Giannelli (they also make Arrows). I also fitted the big air boot. All in all, it's more than I need performance wise and certainly, with 16/44 or 15/43 gearing, make the Gen 1's a far nicer bike to ride than the standard set up.
People say I don't know Jack Sh1t; but I do, he lives next door.

Me too, it simply transformed the drive in the mid range and smooths it out massively at the bottom. TB set-up is essential after fitting the mods to make it all work well together. Mine will pull smoothly from 2500rpm as long as you aren't a gorilla with the throttle.

I have all the bits Steve referred to including the early years big air boot plus the Edwards air tubes.

Just changing front sprocket to a 15t has a massive effect. Not only quicker accelerating but also much smoother shifting up and down. I don't think the internal ratios were designed for 17/42 final drive..
