Race Sinter every time Thumbs Up

You get instant bite whatever the temp,if you're coming from Brembo or those wooden EBC pads be very gentle when you first touch the brakes though Wink

Also, clean your discs well with wet & dry or some kind of of abrasive first to remove the buildup of previous pad material, this allows for the transfer of the new compound

Be careful when buying SBS pads on eBay, there's a lot of fakes about... I always get mine from Ducati Mondo.

I'm considering going with some Brembo SC sintered track and race front pads on my Gen 1 Tuono.
Anyone tried them?

I previously got them from Bike Devils on ebay as they are local to me at Wrexham and I thought I'd support a local dealer.

This time round there seemed something funny about their ebay shop ie  it wasn't there!  which is strange as they were still advertising Confused

Anyway I dealt with Ducati Mondo this time as I'd had good service from them in the past and they didn't disappoint this time either so that's where I'll go in future.

These are what you need for the two pad later Gen2 calipers

4 pad Brembo calipers -

Ducati Mondo also supply them for the 4 pot calipers. Mines 2006 Tuono (gen 2) - the SBS part number for the race sinters is SBS 762RS (equivalent of EBC FA322 HH)

Decided to buy some SBS Race Sintered pads but when searching, can only find bedding in procedure for the Dual Carbon pads.
Ian, you mentioned wet and drying the discs but apart from a little brake dust I don't see the disc surface has any contaminants.
I guess after fit just gradually increase braking pressure over distance?
btw bought my pads from MSR, Yorkshire based company with good price for this pad and free delivery.

Tbh,I didn't break in one of my bikes at all  LOL

On the Mille I just gave the discs a cursory going over with one of those sponge abrasive pad things you use for decorating and never got a chance to use the bike before shipping it abroad for a trackday.

I'd totally forgotten I had new pads on the sighting laps where I got a bit left behind by a very fast pack as I'd only really been using engine braking as I had no clue where the track went next.

This was fine till I opened her up on the start finish straight only to realise I was catching the group much quicker than was prudent, that was the first time I'd experienced full power braking with Race Sinter pads and I used the same pressure as I'd have done with the Brembo's.

Big mistake, the pads bit,the front dived, the tyre squealed and the back lifted off the deck

After that the pads were considered run in LOL

On the Tuono I was a bit more circumspect, bearing in mind I seldom need to use the brakes in anger as I usually manage to read the road ahead enough to just use engine braking. Lazy I know but it works for me.

I was just glad to get equally good braking as the setup on the Mille for if/when it's needed.

Should say also I use shorty levers on the track Mille and have now changed the std levers on the T to shorty as well due to feeling uncomfortable with having more than two fingers on the brakes

Thanks for the info Ian Thumbs Up
Engine braking, yep I do that a lot too, I keep on getting asked if my brake lights are working Tongue
My T had shorty levers when I bought it, but I've couldn't get on with them so went with some after market long ones; will probably have to re calibrate my lever pressure as I'm expecting a good improvement with these pads.

I read on one of the other forums someone wanting to change their Brembo pads because they had too much initial bite Shocked

I dread to think how they must get their braking done

Those Race Sinter pads will give VERY good initial bite and from then on the harder you squeeze the the quicker you can get the back wheel in the air LOL
