Owner of a V4 leaky generator/stator cover?

As many of you know the oem recommendation is gasket sealer.

Well if like me, you found your bike leaking, I would recommend one of AP’s gaskets in its place.

Easy job, less than an hour start to finish.

There was not a lot/barely any sealant at the lower part of the cover at the common leaking point of the bottom bolt hole.

Hi Jimmy.

The dealer has had two failed stabs at it already (each time failing to order the correct sealant and wasting my time with 90 mile round trips) and seemed to think oil misting on my boot was perfectly acceptable anyway. 4 year? Pretty sure mine said 2 years on all my literature. But would be more than happy to have that wrong. So much non standard stuff on it these days they’d not honour a warranty anyway.

Hi geezer yeah all guzzi and Aprilia bike sinthink since 2019 or early 2020 are covered by a 4 year warranty.

Sound alike s nightmare I have to dealers near me and I have used Colchester where I got the bike from seem ok, but the one in bury will pick up and deliver the bike back for £40 so when it's service time Im going to use them.

Thanks Jimmy

Looked it up since Aprilia must of forgot to mail me the extension. Gives some piece of mind on the V4’s then.
I have noticed however that gaskets are among the list of what is ‘not covered’ sadly even though the dealer was going to replace the sealant.

Thanks for the heads up 👍🏻

This is good news re the extended warranty. I bought my TV4F in sept 20. Aprilia haven't sent anything over regarding a 2 year warranty extension.
Pretty poor on Aprilias part not to let buyers know about this.

Yeah I had nothing official from Aprilia, just Jimmys expert knowledge.
The dealer had to check also as they said they weren’t notified either. There is a cost attached naturally for the extension.

Of note, gaskets are not covered by the warranty extended or not.

My bike has the dreaded oil weeping coming from the spark plug weep holes. This is happening on both F&R banks. I was going to do this work myself but I'm going to put faith in my local dealer to do the work under warranty. According to Ed at AF1 it's down to the cam tower o rings being pinched at the factory and these eventually lead to failure. So far my LD hasn't had any V4s in yet with this issue. Here's hoping this issue gets resolved as I really love this bike.

the guy who sold me my bike quoted me this point blank when i asked he even said yours is a 17 and is out but all newer bikes are covered by Piaggio's 4 year, mate its just what they told me, but in saying that about 10 months after i bought it the same guy called me and said they have some left over stock blutooth adapters for my bike, i replied "geezer its built into the RF and option extra on the RR" he replied "so do you want one?" i said mate you sold me an RF...

so did you bike come from colchester?

I have just asked about this extra warranty period Aprilia are supposedly offering customers who buy new bikes from November 19 onwards. I bought my TV4F from wheels in September 20 and all the literature specifically states 2 year warranty. I have emailed them and Aprilia direct asking if this is in fact true.
This is my first time owning an APE so not had any experience with their customer service. However if they say it's 4 years warranty with all new bikes since 2019 then why does know one know anything about this including dealers.

it looks like you can get a 3rd and 4th year,

if i had a newer bike id get the full warrenty of 4 years whatever the cost.

Now I confused. I know you can pay for an additional 2 years warranty however this statement doesn't mention anything about customers having to pay for the additional 2 years.

Starting from the 1st of November 2019, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi will now be generously offering 4 year warranty on all purchases of new motorcycles. This will double the length of the standard warranty of 2 years. So with added value and security it’s a great time to be buying with Aprilia and Moto Guzzi!

Clear as mud as the above statement on Teasdale website states that 4 years is now standard.

Just to add to the confusion, see below. RSV4's are excluded. Now that is a sad reflection on the confidence Aprilia have in their bikes!

Whilst the website doesn’t mention cost it says to contact the authorised dealer for details.
It also mentions a tailored 3 or 4 year extension. Basically that reads to me, you can choose which package depending on cost otherwise it would not suggest a tailored package and just give four years. It says you must activate it also. So can’t be automatic. Dunno if I’m being skeptical on that but the dealer, in this case, Colchester Kawasaki, firstly were not aware of the extension, but when they checked, came back with the costs attached.
Dunno.
Excludes RSV4 models but not Tuono or other V4’s is that also reads to me. The RSV4 has some differences to the Tuono, valves, Rev ceiling, output etc so maybe that’s why it’s excluded….

It’s certainly causing confusion here and with the dealers so hopefully Aprilia will come back with the definitive answer…

OK so my brother is buying a Brand new RSV4 Factory, here is how its gone, this is from mototechnics,

If you buy any Aprilia including the V4 tuono, you can extend the warranty to 4 years, but on the RSV4 specifically the RSV4 you get 2 years cover, the reasoning behind this was explained as people using them as track weapons putting all the fairings back on and getting warranty work carried out, this was explained to me today face to face.

so the bit about sad reflections. confidence and the such is valid but only to a point, they will give you a 4 year warranty on any bike, v4 tuonos whatever but not on the RSV4 a slight shame for people wanting an extend piece of mind but it is what it is if your spending 21k on a bike and in 3 years time it needs a few k spent on it thats just the cost of doing business, it rains you get wet, you buy an expensive bike expect expensive bills.

in the grand scheme of things i don't think warranties mean all that much anyway the amount of fine print and stuff they can weasel out off is staggering.

great dealer by the way, these are the same guys that helped me with the sh*tty gen2 i had briefly.

Thanks Jimmy

I still don’t understand the ‘Can extend to 4 years’
So does that go with Colchester Kawasaki’s info, that you can choose depending on what you pay to extend?
Otherwise it would just say all Aprilia ‘are extended to 4 years’.

No idea mate. I'm sure you will suss it. Are you going to cover the tuono?
I think it's worth it. But as I said and as you did the other day. There's a lot of stuff you'd rather do yourself. Is that where you got the bike from ?

thats mad you came so far out, its literally 15 mins from me house, its always packed but no one is buying sport bikes let alone RSV4s never, everyone buys strange heavy bikes with 45bhp at the wheel same power to wegiht ratio as a 125 things have changed, i usually walk about loudly passively aggressively sl*gging off pizza delivery bikes while flashing my dyno print out at everyone LOL

So just to clarify that Aprilia only offer 2 years warranty as standard. There is an option to take this to 4 years however you have to pay for that privilege.  This is the reply I got from Aprilia direct. First of all they can't even be bothered to spell my name correctly. I wonder why Aprilia don't sell many more machines in the UK :-)

Dear Mr. McFayde,

Thank you for your recent enquiry.

We kindly inform you that the standard manufacturer warranty is two years. On the following link you'll find all information on the extension of the warranty:

https://www.aprilia.com/gb_EN/aftersales/warranty-extension/

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further assistance.

Your customer ID reference number is 109205346

Kind Regards,

Aprilia Customer Service

yes exactly that,

so 2 years standard 4 years extended.

me brother just bought a new RSV4 so his is only 2 years also, but everything else you can extend a further 2 years totalling 4.
