Hi all. looking for a tourer for Europe next year (along side my Mille in the garage!) Saw this and wondered whether it would be worth the effort? Also can anyone hazard a guess as to how much it would cost (roughly) to get it ship shape??

SORRY, FORGOT TO POST THE ADVERT I SAW!! HERE IT IS,

APRILIA RST 1000 FUTURA

1st registered 24th March 2005 on 05 plate. Only 1 owner from new. HPi clear. Cracking opportunity for spares or repair...or great Streetfighter Custom project? No reserve bargain..............

Has not been loved by previous owner! Used as an everyday commuter all year round. As a result finish has started to suffer over the bike, but nothing too bad. Easily sorted with some time and effort.  Some fasteners etc are corroded/tarnished, rear suspension linkages are seized, oil cooler is leaking (corroded?)

Bike starts on the button and everything appears to work as it should. Have a good look at the photos - has had a very very light stationary drop on the lhs - lhs fairing pannel has some light scratches which would almost polish out.

Would not need much to go back on the road - strip and remove rear suspension linkage to free off, rebuild front and rear brakes (binding slightly) replace oil cooler and a thorough service. No road tax or MOT. Tyres are legal and all electrics work.....

Comes with complete V5, HPi certificate and 1 key. Bike is totally standard.

I think there nice bikes. doesn't sound bad but worth looking closely at the side panels as i know there are reports of them cracking around the mounting points.

It also really depends on the price, you can pick up mint condition Futuras very cheaply anyway, so if it's not dirt cheap then you could end up spending more to fix this then buy a decent one.  And still be left with a working Futura, but a rough one, which will hurt it's resale value.

i saw the ebay ad. It looks basically sound but neglected maintenance wise.  Probably zero service history and count on new bearings in the linkage. Saw an oil cooler for £80 on there as well.
Up to £1200 - £1500 i would say it's a good buy. that way you get a worker for £2000 assuming your prepared to do the work yourself.
