hey everyone,
Need to replace the 2 rubber strips glued underneath the petrol tank on a gen 2, have got them already but need to know what type of glue do I use or more importantly what type of glue not to use.
With it being nylon/plastic I didn’t want to glue them with something that’s gonna dissolve it or worse.
Cheers.

Interesting question, perhaps a contact adhesive like Evostick or the spray stuff upholsterers use maybe?

The tank is basically Nylon 66 so should be pretty inert I would have thought, although they are affected by water absorption as we know.

Hey Ian,
Had the old water absorption/deforming tank then fuel leak problem last year but managed to flatten out the fuel pump seal but it took an absolute age getting the thing proper flat so didn’t want to go through all that again by putting something onto the tank that might react with it.
I have some spray carpet adhesive in the garage, will see what it says on the tin as they say.
Cheers mate.

Some sort of two part epoxy resin glue like araldite should do it i of thought.
I can’t see a carpet spray adhesive having enough volume to it. You need to ‘squidge’ into it and let it cure

Your your right about the carpet spray, to thin and very messy !
Definitely need a thick glue, araldite would work well I think, internet says it’s okay for resin’s but not certain plastics or silicone rubber so don’t know if I should use it or not.
Cheers for your help.

Great call hemi, like that mate.
Was to obsessed with glue’s that I didn’t think about a more simple obvious solution.
Cheers,
