Hi Guys,

Looking for advice on Sprocket Brands.

I have a 2001 that I'm converting to 520 pitch for racing/track.

The only brands that I know of that still do front and rear sprockets in 520 are Superlite and Talon.

Can anyone suggest any others and/or advice on wear and tear?

Cheers

I've always had Talon on my road bike and never had problems with them wearing out before the chain.

Talon as they aren't expensive. You will wear a 520 quicker than a 525. I race with 525 and it lasts a couple of full seasons comfortably so I'd expect near that possibly with 520 but most guys change it all once a year and most don't seem to even use chain lube.

I always use renthal. Good wear and better colour than talon which is a bit to bling for my taste. You can get Talon in black by special order.

Thanks for the help guys.

Spoke with Griff yesterday and got some talon sprockets in 520.

Based on track design I'm running 16/44 on Griff's advice.

Can't wait to get on track and get a baseline

Cheers

I track with DID ERV3 520 and Talon steel pinion (15T) and Talon alloy sprocket(s) (primarily 42T).

No probs with them; I replace pinion, sprocket(s) and chain every 2 years/~10 trackdays as a matter of course, but  well within wear limits.

Oops,
Sorry; I missed that this was a Gen1 question. My data above are for Gen2.
