Hi guys,

hope everyone is ok.
so nearly 3 years of ownership i have sold my Gen 1 and I'm taking ownership of a very low mileage gen 2, gets delivered in the next week, i hope, i have a few questions but first and foremost has it got the silly little side stand, should i take the American spec one off my gen 1 before it goes and will it fit the gen 2?

The stand for a gen1 and 2 is different. The gen2 stand leans too much unlike the gen1 and the foot sits too close to the bike.

As Spoonz says the Gen1 and Gen2 are different but both have improved US versions available.

I'm sure someone on here will jump at your US Gen1 stand if you have your standard one to go on it before it sells. Then all you need to do is find a US Gen2 version.

Nice one mate keen to see what you think of the Gen2.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

So am I, I have only ever sat on but never actually ridden I prefer the seating position and size but time will tell. As soon as it turn up I will post some pics hopefully side by side with my gen 1 before she's carted off.

Thanks for the advice on the stand. As long as.itnworks better than the stock gen 1 I will be happy.

I've had 5 Gen2 bikes and everyone has been different, some have leant over way too much, others more upright and one had a home made extension which was ok but none gave been what I'd call sturdy however compared with the gen1 they are considerably better but the USA spec Gen2 stand is really beefy.

09 Tuono here from new ........  Stand on mine seems a bit flimsy but have never had a problem, when putting on the side stand I always give a little pull on opposite handle bar to settle it wether it needs it or not ????

Interesting,I never realised the two generation stands were different.

I replaced my Mille unit with the then only available alternative the " Bubseywoo" within a couple of weeks of getting it back in '09

Although in time I welded a couple of thick washers under the foot to extend it slightly this was only  to compensate for fitting a 190 55 rear tyre, that unit stayed on even after the bike was kept as a track hack.

Fast forward to the arrival of an '09 Tuono which was in imminent danger of toppling over everytime the stand was used I just swapped over the leg from the Mille and all was good again.

I'm sure the USA version would be better but at a pinch just the leg swap did the job

On any of the bikes I’ve played about with dropping or raising the forks to what the rider prefers really made a difference to how it then sat on its side stand

Guys, there's a US spec Gen2 stand on ebay at the moment if anyone wants to do it properly. As always though, it won't be kind on your pocket!   Big smile

Never considered the fact of suspension settings making such a difference but that would certainly explain the variation in angle. Legend do you have these stands on your alertsLOL.

Ian handles my alerts for batteries. Speaking of which, we must be due for another one thread on them by now?

Thanks I wasn’t 100% sure without one on front of me.

My Gen2 has a US stand I managed to buy from the states for something silly like £85 delivered with duty paid. I made a cheeky offer and it was before they became uber popular option.
There is bargains to be had! All the parts I just fitted to my Tuono came from the states and the Aprilia parts were nearly half the price of UK prices with delivery and duty paid. Bonkers

She has arrived, first ride out on dodgy Michelin's , I prefer the riding position and ergos , not having the auto rever to worry about is also a plus it's also just feeling but seems lighter moving it about my motorbike driveway haha.

Side stand is a joke.
Other than that great so far.

Looking good

An unmolested example too gives you plenty of scope to personalise.

If you don’t mind me asking how much was it , mileage etc?
