Hoping the link works for photos, she's eventually ready for a shakedown run at East Fortune on Sunday to see if she holds together, fingers crossed, Gen 1 fitted with Edwards 57mm Throttle Bodies and Carbon Airbox, Power Commander and Quick Shifter with Domino KRR Quick Action Throttle, can't wait to see how she goes then a trip to AP once I know all I've done works okay for a final fettle by the man I've heard so much about. Just need to make sure there is no major issues first and if I'm going to run her this season.

Well the test went well, and managed a time only 2 secs off where the modern super bikes were (its a short twisty track which helps!) so well happy. Couple of issues but nothing major, quick shifter bracket bolted to selector arm worked loose so lots of missed gears in first session my fault forgot to locktite it Embarrassed quick action throttle return cable worked loose on return shut cable, yes I know theres a theme here lol. Biggest issue is a bad stutter at 7k when i whap the throttle open more noticeable after a heavy braking corner and grunting out with a bad cough and stutter so just fuelling but overall what a smile all day.

I used to have an R1 for the track and thought the handling of that was superb but while riding round the outside of a beamer and a kwak in the same corner the R1 pales into comparison. Just need to get some work out of the way save some pennies and definitely a trip down to AP to sort the feuling issue out and were good Thumbs Up

Looking good! What wheels are they? Almost look like anodised RSV4 oz?

What sort of bikes are typically in your class?

Hi Mikaela, thanks.

Yes they are OZ Racing original Gen 1 R wheels just painted by the previous owner, plane gold ones I have also for the wets.

I am hoping to get her going this year and race it in the Melville Motor Club sound of thunder championship, I used to race an R1 in scottish superbike class and the sound of thunder was in the same race, just got cracking with them one day and seemed a great bunch so thought id drop a level so to speak and race with them, the superbikes are becoming to expensive for me and I know the RSV as i have a road going version 2002 model so made sense.

Has your season started yet?

Sorry the bikes in sound of thunder are a mix of Milles Gen 2 mostly, Ducatis most models including panigales, and KTM RC8 Mostly

That's cool that the gen2 can race in the class, the thunder/thunderbike classes down here I think exclude them...

My season starts on Saturday at Silverstone - its scheduled dry which will make a nice change! So do you have a split start with the superbike class?

Yeah its pretty much any big twin as not a lot use them anymore for racing and more a bit of fun racing.

Good luck with your season and fingers crossed a nice dry first weekend.

The starts are great fun all mixed together just depends where you qualify on a Saturday morning then racing Saturday afternoon and sundays

Hi Fastski,

It hasnt lol, I had her out for the practice day at the start of the year and had a few running issues then work went mental so only got it down to Aprilia Performance for a throttle body balance and co2 check last month and it was out a fair bit so fingers crossed it sorts the issue out its back to the drawing board and start with fuel pressure and feed.

However Im entered into the september hislop meeting in a couple of weeks and fingers crossed she runs well then it will be next year now for a full championship assault Smile

Hi
I gained my licence a few weeks ago. Thinking about racing the Saturday at East Fortune if the bike is up to it.

Perfect fastski, if you make it pop round I'll be the big yellow tractor number 14 lol, I'll make you a cuppa. I'll be in an iveco daily van parked near the bottom left of paddock buddy. Best thing you will ever do is get licence and 1st race under your belt you'll love it, best drug you will buy

Well eventually made it back to the racing at east fortune this weekend and had a bad start with bike cutting out in qualifying 😞 So back of the grid. Was hoping it was just the throttle bodies needing balancing which griff duly did and they were out. However after unplugging the power commander before the first race just to check it the thing now rips yer arms out of there sockets, hard work without quickshifter etc but with 2 race wins today I'll be off to bed a happy bunny and hope for more of the same tomorrow. 👍🏁
