Accossato on mine 10 yrs or more now comes with 3 cams , cables etc . Fitted easily on my 09 gen2, not that cheap but has not needed anything but oiling now and again , I cover the cam housing when washing as it did start to stick but never had a problem when it’s rained .

I got a Domino KRR 03 for about £30 something from eBay. Then a couple of screw on barrel nipples to allow me to reuse the perfectly fine throttle cable I already had. I looked at the one with 3 cams but realised 1 cam was longer throw for rain, the other was like standard and only one was quick action. So saved the £20 and just got the one that only had the quick action. Here, I sent this video to my mate back when I first installed it: Look for the bit of black tape I stuck on the grip to see how far it turns to the stop. I think it's quite pretty too. Being an Italian brand goes well on the Aprilia I think. |

What size barrel nipples did you need for the end of the OEM cable please? And what was the process for adapting them to fit the Domino unit?

I can't remember the size, though I just got them from eBay by searching for throttle cable nipples. I got the ones like these where they are flush with no screw sticking out. Not sure if they were 6mm though, I may have searched for the smallest OD I could find to reduce chance of it rubbing. From memory I just snipped off the old ones, ran them through the Domino throttle and connected the solderless nipples on at the other end. The Domino throttle has a couple of plastic pieces which come apart to make it easier to fit the cable, though it is a bit fiddly for fat fingers. Then from memory I think I needed to cut some excess from the end of the throttle cable. I wound in the adjuster at the throttle body end and then fixed the new ones close to where it needed to be. I wound out the adjuster at the throttle body a few turns until the slack was gone. Then once satisfied I had the right length of cable I snipped it flush with the nipple. Obviously check that it doesn't get tighter at either end of the steering lock.

The plastic bit that comes apart is under the rubber gator thing at the end. You want that to be threaded onto the cable before you start. Then those two bolts split the throttle in two. So you can pop the bottom half onto the clipon and the plastic cam is just loose. You can figure out where the cables go at your leisure then and get it all connected up with the top half still off. Then when done bolt the top back on. The most fiddly part I found was the plastic clip thing. The cable outer sleeve stops somewhere inside the plastic clip, leaving only the inner going to the throttle cam. I just found it'd sometimes pop back up if I forgot to keep some tension pulling the assembly into the throttle. Each cable goes through one of these: Which are then connected together with one of these: Then none of that is fixed until you have the two parts of the throttle housing together. It can sit in the bottom (and it does clip in to be fair), but needs the top on there as well to keep it fixed. But before you can do that, you have to get your throttle cable barrel nipples into the cam with the cable going around it. One cable is to pull the throttle open, the other is to help shut it in case the spring breaks on the throttle body. So you can find the throttle open cable by pulling to see which one is spring loaded. Then from memory the open cable went on top. Well it makes sense when you try it because you can roll the throttle and see if it's backwards or not. |
