Me and my father have decided to turn 2 storage bays into work shops, we’re both going to have a unit that’s 10 x 12 meters and fully insulated with a roller door and extra wide personnel door, f##k I can’t wait as it’s been a dream to have something like this, I’m going to turn it into a full on mancave with surround sound and a big ass projector with all my bikes and posters etc. Can’t happen fast enough, looks like this at the moment.

Thumbs Up Clap

Nice one Warren, how cool is that?!!

A palace for you and the bikes. You'll spend more time in there than in the house Wink

In fact... put a bed in there, then you can have a quick 40 winks, watch a film and return to what you were doing -without having to put all the tools away Big smile

I’ve gotta be careful as I have a feeling I’ll end up living like Bert Munro, I’m gonna have a big old settee and fridge etc, somewhere me and my mates can chill out and build bikes

I have my grandfathers big old speakers and my denon surround sound system already earmarked, need to find a big ass tv or projector with a couple old leather settees. A company next door rents bog mats and they have some old ones so I asked if I could have one, these things are 200mm thick and about 5mtr long by a metre wide, gonna make a great table and work bench.

I’m about to build a much much much smaller one for myself but it will be good to finally have somewhere at home to play with a bike

That’s a big chunk of steel

The size of it lends itself to having a mezzanine floor

Thought about it ???

Numerous from my local bike shop, going to have the rumble bee off my truck painted on the back of the roller door and the mr shifter sign from my fathers garage painted on one of the walls, the main girder is being painted Kawasaki green with a load of Kawasaki model stickers down it. Gotta find a big HEMI sign as well, maybe neon😊

Awesome space that's going to be one hell of a workshop/man den! Loving the essential stuff. Bikes, chair, paddock stands and a tool box. Only missing the kettle and or beer fridge and everything else is a bonus.

Bit scary how much stuff I’ve gathered over 30yrs of riding and modding, there’s a 40ft shipping container to empty yet and another ramp at my mates with a big steel table, lot of work over the next few weeks to get it how I want but I can’t wait, gotta sort the heating as well.

Posted By: badapple
Date Posted: 02 Nov 2019 at 21:23
Will definitely be worth it and great to have all the trinkets on display rather than the container. I sorted my workshop/cave out this year just before you posted this thread kind of paled into insignificance compared with this but its so good to have your tools where you want them and space to move as well as all the photos and odds and sods that I've collected.

I’m over the moon with it, I got the roof vent for the heater today so hopefully if it stops raining I can get that running , fingers crossed in a few weeks I should be able to get my ramp, automotech who are about 3 miles away do a double scissor 3.5t ramp that I would like.

Like most all I had for 20 years was a single concrete garage that I froze in in winter, took me about 10 years to get a ramp and it’s the one thing I would never be without. For the last ten I’ve been using a jack leg portacabin which has served me well as it was well insulated and with heating but this new one is fantastic, it was originally a sand bay as the site was originally a concrete works and the only real downside is the floor has a slope which was to drain the sand. I would of levelled it but the cost would of doubled the build. I can get round that though.

Bloody hell, that will cost more to run than fuel for the bike!

Posted By: 426hemi

Runs on waste oil so basically free, the company I used to work for will let me have any quantity of waste oil I want and pretty much any garage will give it away.

Posted By: legend88
Date Posted: 03 Dec 2019 at 23:09

Awesome!

The stuff dreams are made of.

Used to have an oil burner in the workshop years gone by. It chucked some heat out. We used to fire it up and wheel the tool boxes in front of it, first thing in the morning in the winter, because the spanners were too cold and the thermostat was dodgy.

Question everything.

My grandfather used to have one about 40years ago in his garage, this thing heats mine and my fathers side so 20x13 mtrs, takes a while to heat the place through but you can’t complain when the fuel is free.

I had a piece of security fencing left over so I decided to make a wall tidy, I hate things piled up and having to search for things so this will help with organising things and being able to see what I have. The panel was 2.5 high so I cut it in half and made 2.
