Good morning to you all,
I live in Abertillery, South Wales and after having a pretty bad off back in the summer which resulted in my cherished VTR Firestorm being totalled and me out of action for 2 months - one toe and a bit of a crunchy ankle, I got out there and purchased a 2007 Factory R with 15000 on the clock. I loved the storm but hello baby this beast and I are one and why didn't we meet sooner, love it. As for the freaking grin on my face well that's evident for all to see.
I'm a plumber/heating engineer by trade but recently have moved into education to teach the masses what I know, so spanners are not alien to me, fettling, servicing etc no probs, but this is a very electronic beast so a bit of an unknown?
Help and advice would be much appreciated from you folks as you all appear to be very knowledgable or you know someone who is?
The beast has been running a dream no probs. Rode to work on Monday, bit chilly but a glorious day. Taught till 9pm then ophh wowser damn it was cold -6 degrees brrrrr. Started her up and the service light came on? I live about 25miles from place of work. Listened to engine all seemed ok no funny noises. Rode home taking it easy, damn it was cold. Arrived home no probs at all, wrapped her up, plugged the Kre optimiser and went to defrost me hands.
So I'm asking for advice if you wouldn't mind?
Is it safe to ride?
Is it pre programmed to come on?
Electronics arghhhhh.
Thank you very much and look forward to hearing from you folks.
Y'all have a good day now ya hear.
Cheers
Damo

Welcome in, yes this is the best and most knowledgeable forum in the world!
But having said that i can't help you as mines a 2001 RSV but i did the same as you came from a VTR. I think the service light is just telling you it thinks it needs to be serviced or something like that but as i said i don't know anything, sure someone who does know will be along in a bit to tell you what's what.

Morning fella welcome in good choice of bike I have a 06 factory myself amazing ride. Don't worry about the service light it comes on automatically at certain milage to indicate that a service is due . You can turn it off by holding the +&- buttons down on the dash as you turn the key on and hold them in for at least 15 seconds. Well worth getting the bike checked over and properly set up though makes a massive difference AP are the ones to see if it's too far they do mobile service days . Any other questions fire away me old mucka
