Should you be using 10/40 or 15/50 oil.

15/50 is factory recommended but 10/40 is perfectly ok as well and what most people use.

Any oils better than no fkin oil.

Let it develop.

Not going there with the oil thing, but that debris looks suspiciously like part of a spring so my first thought would be sprag clutch debris Confused

I had similar with my gsxr track bike. I did two more oil changes and the gearbox went at Cadwell on the third session

As already said its something thats not gonna go away. Its a time game and unfortunately you wont know when it completely goes. When you get the time/money it'll need to be replaced

I was fortunate and didnt do too much damage plus I rebuilt my entire gearbox but the labour on stuff like this can be horrendous

Does it make a horrible noise on start up ? If it does its ya spray. If it don't I wonder if a previous owners changed it at one point in its life ? I'd check it before ordering new bits
ive just got my first vtwin and i think i got the right one

Good point Clap

Perhaps it old debris that's not previously been flushed out when the parts were replaced

If the sprag spring had gone there would be a terrible noise when trying to start the bike.
Maybe it's remnants from a previous problem
