Probably be stuck posting it during lockdown anyway so you have your pick of them all. Or if you have time on your hands do it yourself, might be quicker than taking it to a shop or post office.

As black lines says

Choose and post off. I can recommend MCT personally but any Ohlins authorised repairer (and plenty not) are capable bud

I’ve used Kais suspension numerous times and they’ve always been good but the last time I used revs suspension in Halesowen and he was very good as well.

None down sw really. I used MH in Chippenham who wasn’t cheap but did a good job.

Is it deffo shock oil and not fling from somewhere else.  Shock oil is quite thick and sticky when cold, not thin like engine oil. Also try the adjuster at the bottom of the shock, does it still click ? If the gas has leaked completely it often stops clicking. ( no pressure against the mechanism)

JHS refurbed mine a few years ago. No issues, nice job. Got to choose a level of service and received a call after it was stripped informing me of findings.
Not cheap though.

So guys, what's the going rate now for a standard shock refurb, basically new oil and re-gas. Obviously other things might raise their heads once stripped.

I think that sounds quite reasonable really, parts, gas, oil and probably 1-2 hours labour. That and the equipment they need to have to do it.

A bit closer to home you could try Steve, the suspension specialist at HEL just outside Exeter.

Most people don't realise they do suspension as well as brakes  - and they are Ohlins agents. They don't advertise the suspension side as he's pretty busy just by word of mouth.

New HEL line on route because of the rearsets and yes it's ready! Even the drive is weeded and cleaned in preparation LOL

Yes mate MTC have a good rep. Not cheap but no one is really. Cost me 600quid but I had a lot changed to suit my childlike build hehehe

£600 is a lot to spend on springs and valving for the stock Ohlins or Sachs shocks I think. Could get aftermarket from ktech, Nitron or Maxton for that. Valves and sprung for you too.

I remember talking to Colin from 100% once about it. He said a better route is to go aftermarket because at least then you can recoup some cost later through resale value. Having said that, I'm sure your end result would be more or less the same to ride on as an expensive new shock. If not better.

Can't comment on Colin's work, only that he seemed a nice guy and has run across to help me load my bike on my trailer at Cadwell and Donny. Can do it by myself but I thought it was nice of him.

Edit: sorry, just seen you were talking about the 675 Adam.

Although I don't think you'd get much aftermarket new for £600 these days would you?

I agree regarding throwing new internals into any standard budget shock probably isn't the most cost effective route.

The law of diminishing returns apply I feel.

Trouble is most people who have top shelf kit tend to stick with it and certainly know it's value if they do sell

Yes Owen for the triple, it was a lot but way cheaper than some other options and the stock Gen2 Daytona suspension is very good high/low compression etc just way to firm for my weight. I'm yet to try it properly for obvious reasons had it done a few days before lockdown but it's a vast improvement.

It hadn't been touched since new so that price was full service, set up and labour. Ironically while Darren was working on mine I was stripping my mates R6 forks off the his bike because his seal blew bigtime on the ride there and pissed oil. So he got his done as well but no labour costs bastard LOL

Nitron R1 for £462, valved and sprung for you:
https://www.brooksuspension.co.uk/motorcycle-motorbike-shock-absorbers/nitron-shocks/aprilia-rsv-mille-nitron-r1-shock-absorber-01-03/

I'm sure you can get Maxton for a similar amount too. Wish shocks were more standard as it would make finding used ones much easier. As it is you have to match up the length (around 325mm) with the spring (about 100Nm to get the valving in the ballpark) as well as the right mounting points.

I'll request prices from Maxton just out of curiosity, but I thought the last time I saw any prices they were heading towards a grand and that was years back

If I did sell the Tuono I could just transfer it onto the Mille with minimal mods

A lot depends on the use. For the road the oem shocks ain’t bad really if you sprung them correctly. I ditched the oem Showa shock on my Ducati for an ohlins TTX.  Couldn’t really hand on heart say it rode or handled any better.

Were it a track bike I suspect the difference would be more noticeable with the TTX not fading etc.

Once again the voice of reason Clap

It's very easy to get carried away sitting bored in front a screen full of bling

Fork wise I'm quite happy to dabble among the shims and pistons but I'd leave the rear shock to someone else
