That adjustable dogbone link .......... bin it. Some of them can be lethal and I wouldn't take the risk myself.
Ignore me, I've just looked at the photo again and it's a side stand spring I'm looking at, not the dogbone |

I think you would see already if the mountings were damaged. Just go very carefully when removing everything. As already said, soak everything repeatedly with release fluid while you get on with other things.

Nicky, don't bother with cans of WD40,get it in a 5 litre container http://www.screwfix.com/p/wd-40-spray-applicator-5ltr/32927 Got this way I find it lasts for a couple of years and you don't end up throwing a can when the propellant runs out before it's empty |

In that case the best thing to do is remove the headers, clamp them in a vise (well padded) and use a pair of Stilson's to undo the plugs
Saves all the cursing, drilling and tapping and extra time involved Also go and get some replacement plugs from Ducati, they are cheaper, and come with copper washers |

Have just ordered a Dremel type tool to do just this on the header nuts of the BMW
Fingers crossed as I am scared of spending the rest of my life drilling out hardened studs in ally which never goes well

Well, after letting the muts soak in a concoction of WD40, paraffin, diesel and other release agents, I've finally got the rear header off without stripping the threads and I've even managed to find a good frame underneath all that muck and sh*t, that clean area was only achieved after using a hard wire brush, yes, a wire brush lol...

Still got a long way to go, still gotta let the front header soak for another day or so and then the rads have gotta come off, hopefully I've used enough chemicals on the nuts holding them on lol...
First real bit of progress made tonight lol... NickyBoy |

Hello me ol plum
Get some copper coated flanged (Oo-er missus ) exhaust stud nuts from someone on Ebay. They're M8 iirc Never struggle with a seized nut again Similar to these, but have a look about, there's self locking ones as well: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10pcs-copper-nut-M8-for-exhaust-turbo-exhaust-system-/152298015368?hash=item2375ab4a88:g:GloAAOSwgQ9Vs8GQ |
