Hello all,
I havent been reading along for long now, but knowing myself i'll be spending too much of my time here, figuring all the ins and outs about my new bike. I bought myself an RSV Mille R from 2003 (production date in 2002 i believe). Quite pleased with it really ![]() i've also got another bike in the form of a BMW R1100s Boxercup from 2004. So I am a bit of a sucker for specials tbh. Considering the fact i'm struggling to get a picture here: It's a yellow one ![]() What's the way to get pictures from my drive on this forum? |

Welcome Bjorn, the easiest and probably the best way is to join as a paid up member then you can post pics direct from your Hdd. Otherwise I think you may have to go through a third party hosting site. Apologies if have already done so, I'm browsing on a small tablet atm not my pc so I have limited oversight. I have to say that the £5? joining fee is incredible value for money as it opens up access to workshop manuals etc as well as easier pic posting. I would think an admin will be along shortly to help you further ![]() |

Allright, sounds good as i'll probably want manuals and tech tips as well. I don't have any history of the bike, aside from somes clues it's been used on track. Clues like Diablo Supercorsas, and some snazzy Ferodo full race pads. I checked those yesterday to figure out what the state of maintenance was on it.

Always a good move ![]() Hopefully you'll have a fully sorted bike to enjoy, not that they need much in that respect to be honest. Best to check things like the stand being changed, solenoid and battery wiring sorted and uprated for peace of mind ![]() |

That's her best side. As I said, it seems mostly cosmetic in the form of decals. DO any of you know of a good decal supplier that ships to te Netherlands?

Question, i've heard a couple of times that there might be something that can be upgraded regarding a brown connector? I haven't been able to find what that actually means? If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great!

Know it very well. Lived in Nijmegan for quite a while and visited Arnhem. We ended up in Germany one morning after a wrong turn on the way to work

Hahah brilliant.
Well, I ordered myself a couple of decals from the imageworks place. Great guys, good service. Just waiting for the carrier to deliver it now. Unfortunately I missed the fact that it's missing the IP decal on one side.. Quite annoying. Found some online, but the blue seems to bright. Anyone in Europe or Holland got some of those laying around? I'll post updates with the decals on it. After having it in for a couple of weeks now, a few things need to happen: - Oil change. It was bad. Not sure why, but seemed to be niglected. . I actually never had a bike with this colour oil. Anyways, changed the oil and filter, after finding a big leak under the filter housing. Probably skimped on the O-ring with the previous oil change. Also found a different leak, but I need to take it further apart, which was not the time now. So i'm gonna come back to that one. - Dogbone service: considering the state of the engine oil, the bearings gonna need to be replaced. Nice job during the winter. - Öhlins disassembly to see if it only needs oil. Probably not, and most likely a rebuild of the rear shock as well. Unfortunately I can't do that myself (which annoys me). So will have to let a pro do it. Winter project (if money is sufficient) - Rear brake flush and bleed *Partly done*... Goes without saying.. need to do a proper bleed. Did it a week ago, and had pedal, but now i dont... - Clutch fluid flush *Done* and bled obviously. worked good. - Front discs. Unfortunately I missed that when buying the bike. Bit of a costly one.. - Suspension linkages (swingarm and such). disassemble and proper cleaning. Oh! Yeah, i also put the EVO titanium damper on. And had a db-killer made. At least it killed a couple of db's (not that much hahaha). Sounds epic and goes like stink

FYI: sticking decals on are a pain in my arse hahaha. I do not have the patience.
Received the decals from the image-works guys. Very good, and i would definitely recommend them. I'll post some pictures when I'm a bit further along. Does anyone happen to have an exhaust hanger without passenger footrest laying about?

Worth checking the front cylinder cover rubber gasket, found mine leaking even after fitting a new one a year or so back. I'm going to remove and refit it with Threebond 1215, that'll teach it.
If you remove the swing arm, you need a special castellated socket to do the job and it needs 2 separate torque settings on the rebuild. The chain goes through it, so you remove the chain with it, unless you split it. From memory the right and left bearings need different grease too, one side has a needle, the other a roller. When you rebuild the rear linkage, fit the PTFE penny washers, this stops the side plates rubbing on adjacent metal. I think AP Workshops bearing kit includes the washers. Oh, and replace the crappy oem linkage seals for viton ones, they're far better. Seen this Harris exhaust hanger on ebay, very rare. I've got one on my Tuono, it's a lovely bit of kit. I think there's a carbon one that'll fit your bike on there too.

Hi Guys,
Maybe I'm misusing this topic, but had the bike in the shed for a couple of weeks, not having fired it up. Now I had hesitant starting. Do any of you experienced Aprilia Gen 1 riders know of a most likely suspect? I have had my doubts about it charging properly.

Reg/ rec can be dodgy on the Gen 1s, I replaced mine with a mosfet from a Honda. Check your voltages at the battery terminals at idle and 4k rpm. If youre not getting low 14s at 4k you have a charging issue. Also check white and brown connectors along the 3 yellow wire charging loom. They loosen, arc and eventually melt if youre unlucky. Also if its not already been installed, there is a starter solenoid and loom upgrade which carries more current to the starter motor.

Start checking with the simplest issues, battery voltage. Is it only a two weeks or is it more? Was it on a trickle charger? Temperatures are falling so will take their toll on any battery that is weakening. |

New battery and I think about 2 weeks. Will put a multimeter on it to see what is actually happening.
