Has anyone got any experience with these tyres
The Metez and K2 and 1s I have used are ridiculous in price now.
I only ride in the summer for short rides only to test maybe a mod with and just to make sure everything is OK before I take it to track. These are not for my Rsv factory which has Metezler K3s on it, these are for my R1 Superstock, if I was to get caught in the rain I would have to take it easy as it is nearly a slick, surprised that they are road legal.
But they reckon on a summers day they be fine, I think i will give them a go at that price. My mate that runs them rates them and says I would probably get 4 days at inters pace out of them.
Anyone that has used them, I would appreciate some feedback from them, thanks 👍

It is for some road legal track tyres.
For just the front K1 they want 175 quid, and 260or more for the K2, but so Mark they ain't bad, it is cheaper to buy slicks almost, but I don't want to change them all the time 👍

If you can help it I'd avoid running tyres on the road before taking them on track. Using scrubs on the road is fine, but nice new track tyres are just going to get their shape ruined on the road I think. Anything like K1/K2 is going to square off after only a few hundred miles.

If you're not averse to changing tyres before a track day you could do what I do. Got my set of track tyres that go on before a track day. Then after the day I'll take them off and stick some scrubs on. My current track tyres being slicks meant I didn't have any scrubs I could use. So I bought a pair of K1/K2 scrubs from eBay for £30 delivered. They lasted all of last summer, will do this summer and I'm also thinking of running the front at Cadwell in April.

If you're only doing a few summer runs I think scrubs will work well for you and be economical. Because they have so much meat left on them in the areas you use on the road. Don't know about you, but with a 60 profile rear I still have 1" chicken strips on the road. And as far as I do lean them, I'm certainly not giving it anywhere near full throttle. So that centre 70% or so of the tyre lasts ok, even if the outside 30% is mostly worn.

The bonus of using scrubs like that is you can get the same profile as your track tyres. So if you want to test something you know the geometry is more or less the same as it'll be on track tyres.

It's a bad time of year for buying scrubs, but something like this could do. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/-/265562347029
If you can wait until the season starts, you'll be able to find decent rears going for next to nothing. Then for the few hundred miles you do on road you could just run your K1 front.

Michelins are ok. I had their touring tyres and they lasted bloody ages. Worked really well in the rain too. Didn't feel much worse than supercorsas on the road.

Just on track the front felt unstable on the brakes (front wheel tried tucking a few times not even hard on the brakes or even leaning much) and didn't give me any confidence to turn in hard. Then on their side as far as I felt comfortable leaning them the whole bike felt to wiggle a bit. Probably just the big tread blocks shifting about rather than actually slipping. Finally they'd start melting in a weird way midway through a session. Which might have contributed to the squirm I felt.

They were touring tyres though. I'm sure their track tyres are much better. I just meant why compromise on the track just for a few short rides on the road.

Thanks Owen, just done 12hrs on that bike, three looms, one we stripped completely down, fitted new Velocity stacks. Nothing was in our favour the stacks had to cut and where they clip in weren't smooth enough so never lifted properly, it had the highest cam in throttle, I thought it was the middle one.
Looks like the relay was f**ked in the rear of the seat making it rideable a with stand down.
I will take your advice, I will probably run them on the track first, after what that bike has cost I got to have some good tyres on it, both lad on the R1 forum rated them.
You have to be potty to ride that thing tbh, that gsxr RR had some S22s on and them K2 up and 1were stuck with stones from the car park back front. It could not live with it last years model.
I never thought much of these tyres OK on track maybe but you can take some liberties with them Metez, it is either them or the TD slicks for Almeria, but for the the odd summer short ride to set things up they will be ideal, we will see.
That was some day, th nks thanks lads 👍 sleep now😴

I run an RG500 and to avoid messing around with slicks and road boots it’s easier to maintain different wheels for what ever you are doing.

Simplifies many things 😊

Yeah separate wheels would be brilliant. Though the biggest part of the job of switching between slicks and road tyres for me is getting the wheels on and off. Especially the rear. Every time I do it I think "next time I'm going to make that rear caliper bracket captive". But I never do ha.
