I'm considering purchasing a V4 Tuono after a diet of race rep machinery for the last few years. I plan on takng a test ride on a demo in the near future but I'd very much appreciate the views of owners here particularly regarding the following:
APRC : is it worth the extra dosh over the R model? Fuel tank range: I've heard it's pretty abysmal, I don't expect a bike of this kind to have 200 mile plus tank range but at least a 100 miles before the fuel light comes on would be nice! What are your experiences in this regard? Seat Comfort: Again, I'm not looking for an armchair, especially after riding race reps for years, but is the standard seat OK or bloody uncomfortable? Be honest guys! Thanks in advance. John |

Don't think anyone on here owns one to be honest.
From what i have heard yes tank range is poor, and electrical issues are it's main problem. APRC good in theory bu pone to failing and putting the bike into limp mode randomly. The one onwer i know luvs the bike but is getting a bit fed up with it's issues. |

Thanks for the reply Spoonz. From what I have found on foreign forums etc. there does seem to be a few problems with the APRC, I'm assuming it's exactly the same set up on the RSV4 does anyone have any info they are willing to share? I'd love the RSV4 but I find riding race rep stuff very hard on the wrists these days, I'm in my mid fifties and whilst I don't consider myself over the hill just yet, I'm looking for a exciting bike with sit up and beg bars. Hence the interest in the Tuono. The other bike on my shopping list would be the MV Brutale but I've had a couple of F4 MV's and whilst they are great bikes, the engine is basically the same now as when it was introduced in 97, despite what MV might say.

There are a few threads on clubaprilia.net but allot of the lads seem to have trouble with them, tuono's and RSV4'S and a few are getting rid of them.

Thanks for that, not good news then! But forewarned is fore-armed as they say. the problem is living with them then (a bit like women really).

Well I went and had a close look at (and sit on) one yesterday. I didn't take it out on test as I've got various work and other commitments this summer which would mean if I buy a new bike (any bike) now, it would get about 4 or 5 weeks use only and then be stored away until next Spring so on that basis I'll wait til next year now before taking the plunge.
The sales guy said he'd sold 23 V4 Tuono's and out of those 21 were the APRC versions which he said was the best thing since sliced bread (well he would wouldn't he!). The build quality looks decent, the saddle height was a tad high for me, but I'm only 5' 7" and it's actually lower than the seat on my F4 MV so I could live with that. I'd still be interested to hear members views if you've ridden/owned or even have a mate who has one. Thanks Edited by JCE - 04 Jul 2012 at 12:58 |
