I have only done about 3 track days over the last 4 yrs. BUT, the last 2 I have taken one of my sons with me, his 1st time he was on a GN250, the 2nd one he rode his zx636r. We rode different groups, so he was able to watch me and I him. The comments from my friends about how well my son was doing was awesome. He trashed talked me on facebook so I asked if I could cruise in his group, followed him for a couple of laps and then rode around him on a sweeper. We have another track day in 4 weeks but he has not said much on facebook. My point, track days when your kids participate with you are top notch.

I did my second only track day this august at Cadwell ( my first was cadders as well ) and i thoroughly enjoyed it... all the advice on here is good advice .. especially those that say to just enjoy it ... because that's what it's about, don't get hung up on lap times and getting passed etc ... just ride to your capabilities and learn .. because you definitely learn so much about how to ride quick and smooth, and there is always others on hand to offer advice and help, the whole paddock area is always so friendly ... I'm addicted that's for sure and can't wait to take the Mille to Cadders in 2015 .....

This was me on my Blade this year at Cadwell :-)

Hi All,

I've read the thread but not trawled the site for an answer yet.

Ref noise, are my Akrapovics on my Gen2 Mille likely to pass a 100db noise test at Spa?  Baffles in, obviously.  I thought it was loud without the baffles until I heard Griff's bikes...

I intend to test the bike before I go to be sure, although, as per the opening post, I'll lob in the standard cans in the van too.

Cheers!

With baffles I would think so, my Gen 2 with Gianelli cans, no baffles was 101db on two separate checks.
If you have an iphone the db app is pretty accurate.

Not so sure mate, I've arrows and they are 105 or 106 baffles out 102 or 103 in. Akras can be a little less noisy but depends on the day air pressure bike temp among other factors.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

Right, I'll repack the cans and see what happens baffles out, then in - with the factory cans as a back up.

I'll do the iphone db test too, and report back.

Thanks,
Jo

IIRC 5000 rpm for twins and 6000 for fours.

For fours there is dividing line over or under 750 I only know because my GSXR 750 was too loud ..... for a 750.

I cant currently take my RSV4 to a track day as I am about 109DB with a Scorpion can on, I can get hold of a longer baffle, but that affects performance quite a lot.
Would love to get this bike on track.

My tip, really dont each much for lunch.. first session after lunch everyone digesting food which tires people out!

Hi all,

To tie-off my post, I had a great trackday at Spa and the sound man was fine with the Akrapovics with the baffles in.  He wanted 6k rpm which I thought was a tad high.  The iphone app reported 95db at 5k, so I was fairly happy to turn up with the pipes on, with the originals to hand just in case.

The day was very, very hot, quite debilitating, was shattered after the last session.  Had to run low pressures as the tyres were tearing up, although I haven't a clue what the shock is set to…  Was grateful it wasn't raining, it sounds very spoilt complaining about too much sun at Spa...

Great day, cheers for the advice. Thumbs Up
