Provided the bike is correctly warmed the oil level should visible in the sight tube approx between the min and max lines. Preferably check it after a ride.

Yea ,I get that but what is expected of the oil level in the tube after the bike starts ?
Previously I've had wet sump bikes and the oil dissapears out of the sight glass after startup and stays like that till engine is stopped and oil runs back into the sump. With the Aprilia the oil level doesn't really seem to move much. My question is I guess, is this normal ? Thanks

By memory sitting level and hot on my Gen1 or 2’s the oil mostly had gone from the window or certainly lowered and what little was there would reduce marginally when revved.
Level ground, upright and switched off the level would come back to between the marks. Always use a measured amount of oil on a change and then it’s not going to be too critical of where the oil is on the sight glass as if it was burning it you’d see it and if it’s leaking you’d see it. So long as it’s between the two you’re fine. If the level doesn’t move drastically on yours again the oil pressure switch you let you know of any issues associated.

The oil pressure light goes out as expected but the oil level in the tube doesn't change like I thought it would..
I'm hoping the oil pressure light is telling me all I need to know. |

My experience is much as you described with twins, with oil barely being visible when running and rising after a short stop period. I have seen a few bikes that seem to agitate the oil a bit and an oily foam appears in the sight tube when running which might give the impression the level is higher than it is.
At the next oil change it might be worth going purely by quantity and then see where the level sits in the sight tube for future reference. But I doubt your far off and were it overfilled it will be evident in the airbox via the breather.

I did an oil / filter change and on first start up the oil level dropped out of sight ,and I topped off after it settled. But since then on start up the visible level does not drop when running.
Oil light goes out pretty much immediately on fire up . |
