Hi,
I'm getting my forks serviced and need to get the front wheel off.
I loosened the pinch bolts but the spindle just spins when I turn the spindle nut.
It looks like there's a tool required that fits in two slots on the other side of the spindle to stop it spinning?
Thanks.

The pinch bolts should be left tightened until the spindle nut is undone. Then loosen the pinch bolts so the spindle taps out.

You will also need to undo the caliper mounts and hang them with bungees off the bar. Again do this first. Depending on the bike stand you’re using you may also need to remove the front hugger.

You need to ensure you follow the correct procedure to refit it all with torque settings and method.

Thanks. I realised after I'd posted the question what I'd done wrong!

I've bought a Draper calibrated torque wrench for putting everything back together and as I understand it when the forks and front wheel are back in a need to compress the forks a few times before tightening up the front wheel spindle nuts?

Is there anything else I need to be aware of?

Thanks.
