Thank you redratbike - I'll try and get a glimpse of it - I closed my fbook account about 3 years ago, so will see if I can find it with Mrs Ned's help - though I fear it will be beyond budget as I'm not keeping the bike, sadly.

I'm selling my wonderful '00 having had it since 01 as 2nd owner. When putting the bike on the headstock stand, it lurched, the tank was disconnected, unbolted and up on the tank strut, I should have just lifted it off, it fell and got quite scraped on the top, so I'm simply trying to find a better tank to swap over for sale

I’ve been looking at bodywork lately and every new or very clean tank is either gen 1.5 or 2.

Why not get it repaired?

The expense of a really good one will be similar cost possibly?

Or since it’s for sale would it not be more cost effective to reduce the price rather than spend out.
Appreciate that you probably want the best product being sold on as you’re a conscientious seller, but £300-400 on a really good tank or drop the price a similar amount and get the bikes up for sale whilst people still looking.

A local sprayshop quoted me £140, which I leapt at, but they then refused to do the work once the boss got back! There are plenty of tanks in very good nick for that sort of money, sadly the ones I'd be interested in are all in a worse state than mine. As you suggest, I'm reaching the conclusion that the way forward is to reflect the tank issue in the asking price. Thanks wigginsjp

Thanks. I'd already been through every tank on eBay, before asking on here. As I've said before, there are some excellent tanks on offer, none of which I can use for my purpose. I was hoping someone here had one on a shelf in their garage..

What an outrageous suggestion! I simply could not bring myself to impose a Baglux cover on anyone!! (mind you, if I'd had one of those aberrations on mine, we wouldn't be here now!)

Thanks anyway

I use a baglux cover - I think it's great! Each to their own I suppose - I commute and need to carry stuff and IMHO they are so much better than a back pack.

Thank you for thinking of me.

I decided last week to bite the bullet and get mine repainted. A couple of pals recommended a painter and as it turned out, I was already familiar with his work, without realising it, as he'd painted their bikes! I took the tank over and he quoted a super reasonable £150. I collected it yesterday and can't quite believe what an absolutely perfect job he's done!

So if anyone needs an excellent paint job for super reasonable money, in the Liverpool/Manchester area, try Andy at Cheadle Motor Body Bikes 0161 428 5722

Thanks again
