Welcome John. If the ones you have don't fit you, go up and back. I'm 6'6" and found going lower did nothing to help. But going further back made so much difference I could also go higher, which was a bonus.

Welcome in john you're in good hands here. The AP rearsets are very nice and more than likely in stock so call the shop and I'm sure you'll be sorted. Some taller guys have had to go further to get what they were after comfort wise I'm the other way and raise the pegs. If you do buy the AP sets you won't be disappointed with the quality.

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

You probably don't need to rush out and buy some sets right away. Ride it a bit and decide if you aren't comfortable. I had some AP sets, which are pretty. They give a bit of adjustment but on my bike I had an issue with not having enough space to get my knees under the tank cutouts. I was recommended to go as low as possible. With the AP sets you can run the mounting plates upside down by putting the right one on the left side etc. This drops them by s long way. But that didn't give me any more room really, just made the bike feel like a sit up and beg scooter. What worked for me was going as far back as possible. That is far more important than the height as it changes the angle of your knees. A mate gave me some old sets from his old RSV and that's what I'm using now. They aren't as pretty but they do go further back than the AP ones did. Wish I knew where you could buy these today as it would be good to have some spare pegs. I ended up going another half inch back and up beyond what I could achieve with the AP sets. Which sorted my issue. But really, ride it a bit first. You might get along fine with the stock pegs. Or the AP sets might fit you really well. |

I took the bike out for a couple of hours yesterday and it wasn't to bad. Going to give it the summer and then if needed will fit some over the winter months when she is all tucked up.
Thanks for all your help and advice. |

Aren’t they the rearsets Aprilia offered as an accessory? There is a set of brand new ones on eBay somewhere I saw recently from a dealer

Good to hear. They are roomy bikes I think and suited to people like us who probably have no place trying to fit on a sport bike. At least if they are ok as they are you can always get some sets later for bling, rather out of necessity. The AP sets replace the stock brake and gear levers. Means you could set them up for GP shift. Also, many people don't like the rear brake master cylinder in it's stock position. Though I've never had an issue with it.

I don't know. Markrsvr who used to be on here gave them to me. Think he said there was a company making them and they were never that expensive. Will have to have a look but think they said something like "Aprilia Racing" on them. There's a couple of spare pegs too that have been ground down from lowsides. I like them and would buy a couple more pegs if I could find them. Functional and solid. Can you link to the eBay listing or was that a while ago?
