Hi Guys, just new to the Forum today, looks to be a busy place with loads of knowledgeable Owners Wink

I have the chance of a 2006 Gen 2, bike in question has 4k mls on the clock, just had big service, valve check etc, arrow cans, Ohlins rear shock from rsvr, power commander, 15t front, bike is absolutely mint.

Its advertised as an R but on my limited search, it seems to have the non-R brembo calipers on front?

Is there any info you guys can give out when heading over to view the bike?
Any help would be greatly appreciated Wink

Welcome!
Judging by the year and if the calipers are the blocky shape vs the rounded shape, then it probably a pre/non evo engine version (has been commonly referred to as non-r. According to Aprilia, all post 2005 Gen2 Tuono's all R's but a common turn of phrase even at DVLA registration level is to call pre evo engine versions non-r's). Apart from engine internals and the calipers I don't think there's much difference; I doubt I could ever tell the difference if I was riding an evo engine or not!

Because of this, it'll probably have an early 500w alternator which can burn out so check its charging OK and that the starting procedure doesn't give any weird noises.

Hopefully that helps a bit with the confusion. Any other issues ought to be common with all Gen2's, evo or not, so have scroll around here and get an idea in. There's many others on here to give more info or more likely than not, tell me I'm talking out me arse!

I own a Gen1 so not completely up on the Gen2 but the early Gen 2's had clocks that reset when you disconnect the battery - so mileage is likely not to be accurate. It wouldn't need a big service with 4K!

Someone else will confirm bikes/years that are affected.

Think it was 2004 bikes effected by the clock issue.
Gen 2 Tuono are either base model R's or top spec Factory.
The early ones I think and the factory used the blocky looking 4 pad radial calipers. The R's (certainly the 2007 onwards) used the rounder looking 2pad radial caliper.

No discernable difference between the two in use, although I think the 4 pad ones look more bling. Which is probably why they stuck them on the factory.

I have a feeling all the monoblock race types now use twin pads though?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong Confused
