Hi watched last years TT’s highlights last year, always wanted to go and thinking of going next year, has anyone been on here before? Also is practise week worth going, as seems easier to get a ferry crossing and also half the price to stay!!! Just wondered if as good as race week know is practise every evening rather than race week which is every other day

I go to the Classic, its a lower pace with a lot of older bikes. But the TT must be on your bucket list, hard to describe but its wall to wall bikes and the racing is the cherry on top of the cake, loads to do when the race bikes are not running and full access to the pits. I take in all of the practice week and 2/3 of the racing to get low rates on the ferry, practise days get you a full day going round the island followed by the practise in evening, racedays are more restrictive with the roads being closed the whole day, pick either an outside the circuit spot for more freedom to move to more spots, inside the circuit limits you more.

If I was told I could pick either a full week of practise or a full race week I would pick the practice. You do realise if you go once and catch the bug as I have then you end up going every year ;) . If you go for practise week first time and do not like it then race week would not make you go back, if you do practice and want to go back then you can do race week next time to compare, knowing most of the experience already.

Sounds like a plan!! A friend had book tickets for race week on the ferry but think even with losing the deposit and rebooking think will still work out cheaper , always wanted to go and after getting bike again last year perfect time too!

You need to go to the Homestay site.
But best to ring for latest availability as then you get cancellations.

Homestay has worked really well for us, now in our eleventh year with the same couple.
Practice week is quieter than race week, we normally travel out Thursday of Practice Week and come back various days during race week. The weather is what makes or breaks it, and they've already lost two days of Practice this year, maybe that means things can only get better...?

Me my brother and his mate are going next year for practise week, you'll need to be booking the boat asap for next year, the tickets go on sale a year ahead.
Be prepared to get rinsed by the Steam Racket Company

Today's practise has been cancelled so this week looks to be a washout, weather forecast has a window for Sat, Sun back to rain before the Sun returns on Monday for the full week. They will cram it in some how.
