Winging it gives you more flexibility, but pre booking allows you to see the property, its facilities and cost before hand etc. Lot easier to wing it if you're alone; with 4 people not so easy.
We started booking rooms a few months back and on occasions got the last 2 rooms available on the days we needed them.
People say I don't know Jack Sh1t; but I do, he lives next door.

We always go in late Aug, early sept as the prices drop outside of the school summer hols and the hotels etc are quieter.

If anyone uses Brittany ferries i can get you 10% off with my club voyage membership. If i'm part of the group we get 30% so it is more than cost effective for our trips.

I think we might look at riding across to Croatia/Slovakia next year as we have done Spain and France so much. Northern Europe is a bit hit an miss weather wise so less appealing.

I’ve been to Croatia etc before when it was still Yugoslavia. Lovely place as long as you avoid September when it’s famously very windy. Took £50 spending and came back with £20 but then it was the 80’s. Not so cheap now they have the euro.
