Hi guys. Im looking at a new chain soon and iv got 16/43, ever since iv owned the rsv the low speed riding has been a bit iffy.
My r1 was great low speed but the rsv (gen2) is never happy under 3k, even with a 4% co tune off griff. I guess its just the nature of a twin? Iv seen so many different sprocket sets but really not sure. I was thinking 16/44 might help take out the bit of low end lag? I dont track but i do go on motorways sometimes. Set is stock airbox with k&n, open arrows, map2, pcv+at300 mapped over 4k |

I think stock gearing is 16/40. Most people drop on tooth on the front at least because of the high gearing and driving in traffic. I found dropping one tooth on the front is just about equal to 3 teeth on the rear. Its not quite 3 teeth, but its not 2 teeth. Its somewhere in between but closer to 3 teeth.
My one used to 15/40 and 15/42. But when I had it fitted with a power commander, which made a big difference in traffic, I had to go up to 16/42. I tried 15/40 after it was tuned but it still felt too low so went to 16/42 which is just a little bit higher gearing than 15/40. Its nice on my bike as it can pull it. I think the power commander made a huge difference in traffic. Other than that I'd just drop one on the front and see how that goes. Another thing I fitted which made quite a difference in traffic riding was a G2 Tamer Throttle Cam System. It just makes riding slow so much smoother and easier. They are still a pain to ride in traffic whatever you do to them any road. I find anything below the national speed limit is always painful. Hence I try to stay over it when I can… Hope that helps |

Well that answers that for me then.
Gonna change my pcv to per gear mapping and see how that helps. I have herd a few times now people reporting the power commander helping. At the moment nines only tweaked over 4k. Thanks for answering that! |

Iv decided to give a 15 front sprocket a try. Im spending a lot time round town and it should mean i can slow ride it a lot better.
When i go for a run i can always change it but if im honest i never top end the bike anyway. It would mean its 15/43 |

Yes will give it a try. For what its worth at the cost of a sprocket.
That judder at low rpm really annoys me you have to be constantly on the clutch. Top speed wise iv taken my rsv to 140mph only once since iv had it, mostly 120 is where im at so i really dont milk it at all. If i can keep it at about 140 im happy. |
