Can you guys help I have a poorly 2000 rsv-r. That requires a new starting clutch. Is it a engine out job?

No not at all all accessible on the stator side , left hand side of the engine..call the shop number at the top of the page

thank you for your quick reply last night, is this something the rsv-r guys could do for me. if so have you a rough cost? it id like to square the rest of the bike any way.

they can sort anything for you
 
give griff and the boys a call and they can discuss the sprag ..
 
the price varies as there are 3 parts to it and you may get away with one part or need all three but wont know until its all apartThumbs Up

If you are a competent home mechanic you can do it your self and it's quite easy.

Just follow http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?155882-How-to-replace-your-sprag-clutch&highlight=Sprag+clutch and the horrible Haynes and you can have it done in day and thats faffing being anal about cleaning around it and lots of brew breaks to read and poo!

Did mine a couple of weeks ago. I changed all 3 parts while I was in there. Take your time and follow the guide shown above.
I was surprised how easy it was to do πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ‘πŸ½.
