Good morning all,
My 04 RSVR has been difficult to start over the last few months. I've read all of the solenoid, cable and battery threads and I've ordered all of the above. The battery has arrived and its brand new, fully charged and turned the engine just fine yesterday. However, today it sounds like the starter is just spinning. The engine is not turning. Help please... |

If it sounds like the starter motor is spinning, but the engine isn't, I'd say your sprag could be knackered.
It's not turning over at all no? |

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. The youtube link takes you to a vid of my bike and shows exactly whats happening. It has been an ass to start for a while now, turning over but stopping abruptly before it fires. It has deteriorated over the last week until Friday when the starter spun without the engine for the first time, but then with jump leads seemed to be fine. I changed the battery for a new one, I've ordered a 150amp solenoid and upgraded cables, but I'm not sure thats the problem anymore. The starter is just spinning now regardless of jump leads, full battery etc. |

Certainly sounds "sprag-ish" it would be a likely thing to have given up the ghost .

Thanks.
Ive begun to strip her down, it was much simpler than I'd imagined. Anyone know what size that crank bolt is? Typically, it's bigger than everything I've got. I was a little disappointed not to find anything obviously wrong in there. |
