so i am getting my RSV back ready for winter. i rode it all year last year and regret it as it got filthy. i now hve me a winter run around hornet so i can get my beast back looking nice, or close to it.
i have replaced the battery cables to 25mm2 270A cable that i have made and crimped/sleeved myself. Rectifier has already been upgraded to a shindengen FA020. couple other wiring bits to do like tidy it all up, re-route autotune, PCV cables and couple earth return Straps. Had my carbon Clear Coated by a friend in 2k clear, collecting them tomorrow. Current plans are to get clear lenses fitted, finish off electrics, damn good clean, change cam cover gaskets and a service. Griff had done a Co balance on it last year for me. more pics to follow. any suggestions would be great |

Remove the black headlight protectors and fit clear ones, or even one clear, one yellow, that would be something different

I love those tinted lesnses. Not great in the dark so i have to remove them then.
I have attacked the cam cover bolts. All come undone but the front cylinder theres one thats near impossible to get onto. Im using socket allen keys. |

I've got the forks and yokes out at the moment, so with the rad pulled out the way access to the front bolt is a piece of cake.

Going to have a look now. I need to replace a few clamps on the rad hoses anyway so i will take a look. Hopefully it will remove. Its probably worth checking the clearances while im there? I doubt i will change the shims myself but cant hurt to check.

Got them all cracked loose. I used a 1/4 drive with mini allen fittings inside a socket. I think nows a good time to replace the seals to the bolts also while its off.

Out of curiosity which one is the bitch to remove?
I assume it would be the lower, l/h front as you sit on the bike? I decided to crack that one while I have the rads are off ,the r/h one was awkward from the front but should be more accessibly from the top hopefully |

Hi ian.
As your sitting on the bike its front cylinder left side. Its close to the frame and on an angle. 1/4 ratchet will get it and also the one right at the front by the rad but to be honest that wasnt all that bad. Did it without removing rad. Got them all from the top but the rad will be coming off after so either way. These seals that are on the bolts, you cant buy them seperate so im going to asume they generally dont need changing? |

I did read somewhere that some owners have shimmed them to get more sealing?
I've never removed one myself so I have no experience,I just thought while I have the rad & coolers off I'd crack them and re tighten them. One thing just seems to lead to another,at that point I decided to take the CO2 plug out ready for checking ,which led to removing the pipe to clean it and replace the nuts with something newer and corrosion proof. And all I set out to do was upgrade the battery leads |

Funny that. I am pretty much in the same boat where one thing is leading to another.
Sorting all this oil leak gunk off is a job in itself. Cables are all upgraded and complete. Just got to fit a small fusebox in the rear for some of my gear. Really thinking about doing the evo airbox style mod too. After all i have autotune installed. |

Oh and one other thing, does anyone know if its possible to limit the startup fast idle? On the colder weather it fast starts at 3k and sets my neighbours car alarm off. But when its not so cold it starts normal. I know its supposed to do it but thinking if it could be limited in pcv

Right really sorry for the lack of updates. I have not had the time and to be honest iv lost track of the mods i did.
Mostly electrical upgrades, new 150a starter solenoid, various gaskets replaced and o-rings etc. Fixed numerus oil leaks on pipe fittings. Also swapped the clutch jet whild i was there. Biggest improvment is it now has a complete new look. Also clear lenses etc. Cleaned and waxed |
