Just got my new Rear Shock and revalved and sprung front forks from Maxton. Santa read my mind! Putting them on today and maybe even sneak a quick ride.

Nice Clap

Maxton would be my first choice as well.

Did you go for the matching Big Piston fork conversion kit as well?

Not sure it was a 'big bore' conversion. They replaced all the internals with new springs, seals, tubes and changed the valves. I haven't put it through it's paces yet but initial feeling is much improved.

I wondered if you'd gone down the GP30 route like TIFA

I had my SV1000 treated to the usual upgraded internals by Richard and also did my Mille forks myself to learn more about damping and valving, all good stuff but I fancy trying the Big Piston route for the Tuono.

Once fitted it should be easy enough to play with the valving and shim stacks if one feels the need.

Below is the PDF that Richard at Maxton sent me which outlines their recommendations for the gen 1 tuono. Very knowledgable and a fast turn around.

I posted forks out on Monday and they were back with me the following Wednesday. 9 days including postage time. They also built up the new gp10 rear shock. Apparently they do get incredibly busy in the racing season with several weeks waiting time.

Hope this helps. I went for the full fork rebuild as opposed to the service.

Went out for a proper test of the Maxton this weekend and it really has made a significant difference to the overall handling of the bike. The rear is so much more stable and the jolting that i got from the old sachs is completely gone. It just feels really compliant but not in any way wallowey (new word).
The front also feels very stable through cornering and when breaking.
Expensive, but I'm very happy with the results.
Bullitt1964 and I swapped bikes for a while. I jumped on his absolutely mint Gen1 mille. (Thanks Bullitt really enjoyed that) so he might have a fresh pair of eyes kind of view.
Maxton gets my vote.

I know Embarrassed

It's a bit addictive isn't it? But it will remain standard LOOKING     and sounding

Better suspension and brakes come under the 'replace with better when it's needed ' category when it happens, just an update to the safety aspects you see Wink
