If you don't have pillion foot rest hangers, then finding a tie down point on our bikes is a bit of a head scratcher. Well i saw these on Steves Stainless stand at a recent bike jumble. You need to cut down the 85mm of the 8mm stud on them thats all. Easy and safe.

Nice idea, i was thinking of something similar but through the swingarm pivot and rear wheel as in a long bar with an eyelet welded on one end and a screw on eyelet the other.

They do other sizes too in bolts...just add one of their snap hooks using a locknut arrangement and you're away Wink

Looks great. Provided it's into solid ali.

If it's screwed into rivnuts (into thin ali) then I'm not so sure they can handle the lateral forces required to hold 200kg of bike down.

I was thinking exactly the same tbh, those rivnuts aren't very secure at the best of times and the thin walled alloy tube is soft and bendy as well.

Knowing how I strap my bike down with a strap over the seat I wouldn't fancy putting that load through the rivnuts, even if the two eyes were screwed into a solid spacer between the subframe sides if that were possible I still wouldn't fancy it much.

If in any doubt, go right through with a nut and lockwasher on the back.

That'll strengthen the rivnut but seriously weaken the alloy tubing though.

Probably ok if only moderate tension is applied but I think I'll stick with an over the seat solution as I know that works 100% and will carry the loading.

Nice idea though

Probably right Ian, I didn't think that through! You could insert a tube and weld it in both sides but I think that's starting to over-complicate a problem that maybe doesn't really exist.

I find that if the front end is secured well a strap over the seat is sufficient
