For the old & f**ked among us, like me Embarrassed who can't ride a sports bike for more than an hour or so any more without suffering here's how I did my high bar conversion. Thought about buying a Tuono but my RSVR is mint & better the devil you know.

Firstly they do conversion kits for these but I have heard nothing but bad things about them & know from experience when my mate bought one for his R6 that they do not fit very well & some of the parts supplied are only fit for the bin.

Firstly I got a top yoke for Ohlins forks from ebay & sent it to NK racing who supplied & machined a set of fat bar risers to fit on the angle of the yoke then welded them on & grit blasted all for £80.00 Clap

http://www.nkracing.co.uk/n2.html

Next I bought a top fairing from ebay & fitted this with the top yoke to see how much had to be cut off to clear the handlebars.

The fairing was cut back almost to the mirror mounts but I still couldn't quite get full lock so my solution was to get an old footrest hanger & cut the fixing lugs off & make them oval to reduce the lock slightly.

Now the top fairing & screen were cut back they were sprayed black & lacqured.

Next job was to replace the brake & clutch lines, just a matter of measuring how much they were short & buying them from Venhill.

The wiring & throttle cables were long enough to re-route without replacement.

I used Tuono reservoir brackets Wink

The new decals were from Image Works & a perfect match but not easy to fit which is why I put them on top of the lacquer, just in case Embarrassed

The final thing after riding around for a while was to replace the mirrors for RS125 ones which actually stick out about 2" further than the original ones.

This is how much it cost & no original parts were harmed in making this conversion Big smile

Renthal fatbars £50.00
Top yoke £45.00
Fatbar risers welded onto the top yoke by NK racing £80.00
Clutch & brake lines from Venhill £97.00
Top fairing £65.00
Screen £30.00
RSVR fairing decal set from Image Works £45.00
Renthal bar end weights £18.00
Paint & laquer £14.00

Plus £18.00 for the reservoir brackets & £30.00 for the mirrors.

I also dropped the forks through the yokes by one ring & increased the settings on the rear shock to compensate for the shift in weight by sitting up. the different riding position took a bit of getting used to but I love it now & it's so comfy I can ride all day Big smile

Hi, like your write up about the conversion and I would like some higher bars on my 04 RSVR GEN 2, but am not sure which way to go, clip on risers or like you the high bars. I have seen a few done on the web but no has said the pros and cons of them. I would think the clip on's would need less mods to fairing, also best place to buy them.

I have trouble rewiring a plug so......

thanks tho mate. It looks the biz! I have to say that the riding position on these bikes is torturous at best! Today I rode from Ruddington in Notts to Matlock and Matlock Bath to see some mates and then back to Ruddington. All together its about 60 miles. I did it all with my missus on the back and she is new to bikes so shes not found her comfort positions yet. My shoulders and wrists are absolutely killing me! These risers might make things a bit more comfortable. Not too sure how Im going to get on plastering all day tomorrow!!
