Hi, I've a 2015 Factory Tuono with an Akrapovic carbon end can whch sounds OK but I've noticed other Tuonos have more of that classic V4 rumble. I've taken the baffle out but the sound is just a bit louder only. So, I'm thinking of getting a different end can. Can anyone suggest a different end can that's not too loud but emphasises that unique V4 sound? I've found a few on eBay from Arrow and others that are not stupidly expensive, but it would be great to get some input befoe splashing out! Cheers.

Talk to Mhp, they can make them as loud or quiet as you want.

hi mate,
i also have a V4 that has a nice bark, a few things, the cans on ebay are most probably fake like i would say that 99 percent of them that seem cheap are more than likely fakes, not always a bad thing but just a heads up, these listings for example they won't be for road use and wont be able to pass an MOT, arrow sell exhaust for the V4s starting around £700 with the correct link pipe and hardware for the low hang or a proper hanger for the old school high hang now is your exhaust Cat'd ? that would be the problem and if so your more than likely looking for a decated link pipe im not an expert but on my 17 rsv4 the link pipe is what had the cat and most of the homologated exhausted have cated link pipes with servo valves, i personally have a Yoshi end can with decated link pipe which i had MHP racing in clacton take a look at and he had to pop in 2 baffles to make it bearable and to be honest its still probably too loud for the current climate. depending on how quiet yours is i personally probably wouldn't bother, as whats on the horizon is seemingly going to make having any sort of loud even loudish can non viable. Gremin mate post a pic of your exhaust we can then all crowd round and see what we are working with. cheers.

Why not get the road legal titanium Akrapovic option on the 2017-2020 model?
Has the Cat fitted and is only a couple of hp down on the race slip on but won’t struggle on noise like Jimmy’s mentions. |

i think that must be what he has now, when i test rode a 2019 1100 it had one on and was really quiet, it definitely wont pose any problems with mot, trackdays etc.

He has the carbon
This the one I’m referring to Jimmy. It’s still loud when it wishes to be. According to Akrapovic the std can is 100db at 6500rpm and the race one is 102db. This one is also 100db at 6500rpm. It does state 80db on it which is the std at tick over perhaps? If I Rev it it seems no different to my race carbon other than it’s not as violent. I have the RF air box on my Tuono, so like yours it has a lot more intake bark so perhaps that’s missing in this instance |

Hi Folks, Thanks for the feedback. Good idea on posting a picture but not sure how to do that. But it does look like a carbon version of the picture posted including the small cat (I'm assuming that's what the bulge is in the link pipe). There's also what looks like some king of exup value with cables leading to an actuator in the headers. |

Yes the bulge is the catalyst.
You need a decat link pipe and either the valve warning light mapped out or a healtech device to stop it showing as a fault on the dash. Mine is a later version of that can effectively The cables lead to a servo externally on the side of the frame behind the rad. You can disconnect the cables there

yea wig that was the can the one you posted that was on my test bike that can sounds very similar to my stock with the valves locked open,
gremin mate exactly what wigg has said, decat pipe, remove the servo cables and lock the vavles open in the exhaust i have done that to my stock with metal wire, install a servo buddy like the healtech that should make it louder on tick over and everywhere else really.

Thanks for the advice all :-) I'll see if I can find a decat link pipe. Will I need a remap?

technically yes, but first get the decat pipe and see how it runs,
you probably already have the upmap from akra that came with your exhaust but who knows. for me when i removed the stock and fitted my yoshi with decat it ran so much smoother and better at idle but now i have had the baffles installed it somehow runs slightly better than that idle and everything else is the same, just had a quick look online and cant really see anything that would clearly fit. shoot an email to akra direct or a supplier. i think it would be a closed circuit only type part your looking for.

The genuine Akrapovic titanium ones are about £300 on their own.
Arrow do one in stainless for £98 but you could also do what the lads suggest and ask MHP what they have, or can make. |

Indeed Jimmy.
If buy another whole slip on and sell the old one 😅 Of note I tried my baffle in my race Akra today. When I first took it out I didn’t really hear much of a change but it does take the edge off. Stops the burble/crack on the closed throttle overrun at about 3-4K. But power wise I noticed no drop. I do reckon the RF due to the free flow and bigger air filter you have and I’ve on my Tuono really make a difference. When I had it serviced and the mechs fired it up they all took a step back and looked at one another 😅. I’ve seen and heard plenty of V4 Tuono and mine definitely has more intake bark.
