Who knows, you'd think operator pride would demand they at least try to deburr. I've never taken one apart but I assume the piston just butts up against the shaped ali housing? Someone did modify their cases to accept a conventional valve seat pressed in and then put a full conical nose on the end of a standard piston so it would be a far better seal. I'm pretty sure Micah found the standard pistons were off their seat by half way through the engines rev range so diminishing oil pressure No wonder these engines sound like tractors

That's true, a bit scary and completely crap really. How does something like that get out of a modern machine shop (And I do class the 90's as modern for this)? |

That spring listed 447 is the later Gen1 and preferred option rather than the weak offering in the later units The earlier spring has long been discontinued and ran considerably higher pressures in the early engines, around 120psi it seems. Bet they were mechanically quieter Anybody got a scrap early 1998 engine? Spring AP0239440 '98-'99 Spring AP0239447 '00 '01-'02 and '03 and IGen Tuono Spring AP0239449 '4+ (IIgen RSV and Tuono) Spring AP0239445 RSV SP The piston is always the AP0256510 And this can vary quality wise as shown |

True, that occurred to me afterwards, after all a spring is a spring I wonder if anyone knows the spec for the proper original 1999 unit? rather than the weaker 2001/3 that followed it. Mind you that's a great improvement on the Gen2 version I hear. I've seen all the part No's on Af1 somewhere and I'm wading through old posts trying to find all the info that Micah dug up years ago

If we know the spec, it can probably be bespoke purchased.
