If as suggested above they have a standard three year warranty you should not need to register, proof of purchase will be enough.

Yes constant, it looks like it's faulty, they have a three year warranty, so you won't have any problems 👍

Hello again Constant.
I got mine from Tayna , arranged the return back to them through their website and they checked it and issued me a refund straight away.

Hi Constant, I have gen 205 factory, I can't use the steering lock which I thought enables the alarm. I borrowed the battery from the Factory to use on the bike I was working on but when putting it back I never done the reconnection procedure, where you connect battery and turn the ignition on for 15 seconds but don't start the bike, take the key out then put it back in then started it.
Because of that the battery was flat in about four days. But I would give it a charge every three months, saying that I got a battery status lead in the tail unit so I can always keep an eye on it. But even though the lead was showing nothing when it went dead, it started the bike after a 10min charge and doing that reconnection procedure, it has been out the bike a year and it is still at 100%.  They don't like practical drain on them like an alarm. If you do get a new one under warranty, you can get one of them status leads and keep an eye on it. I think it has done about 4 months without me charging it but I never arm the alarm as it has ground anchor and an Abus disc lock with an alarm.
You can get a smart Shido where you can check its status on a smart phone. What is the problem with yours, you should never attempt to start the engine if 50%or below, which also risks the sprag. The thing is you have to follow the rules and they are fine.

Hi Constant, how long do you leave it without a charger and do you arm the the alarm with the steering lock?

I don't know of any lead acid battery that gives you a 3 year warranty, like yours Hangry the JMT on the R1 Superstock is just over three year old now 👌😀

My Shido is on its fourth year and never failed me once, I know Adam had problem with his. But mine has been perfect, it has been off  the bike for a while nearly a year and it still has a full charge, it went flat because I did not do the reconnection procedure, but they have a safety built in them now that shuts the battery off. Anyway after eight mins charge it started the bike.
They even have Shidio smart that you can check status on your phone. Lead acid is old sh*t now, not for me I won't go back the superstock has one too a JMT started after nine months when I bought the bike.

Battery arrived today, complete with a handwritten note explaining that there was no need to worry about the slightly different size, plus a business card complete with instructions on how to reset the dash after fitting the battery.

It's having a final charge up, and I'll put it on the bike tomorrow.

Thanks to Performance aprilia for their brilliant service.

After a bit of on-line research, I've ended up ordering an uprated Yuasa from our hosts at Aprilia Performance, but thanks to everyone for your help and advice.

Lithium dude, any flavour to suit your pocket (and throw the battery tender in the bin)

I favour JMT myself, you should be able to leave the bike unattended for a couple of months and have it start as quickly as switching on a light.

I'm in the market for a(nother) new battery, can you confirm the model / part number for the JMT you're using please?

Cheers

Morning Constant.
Yeah, I charged mine before use,  only with a Nocco Genius charger, and it just gave up the ghost after a handful of rides, very disappointing but also, in my slightly luddite mind anyway, just seemed to confirm all the doubts I had about running a lithium battery on an older bike...
I'm sure mine was just duff but I doubt if I'll ever give another one a go now, yes the weight saving is nice and the way it started with the Shido on was brilliant, but to play up after such a short time on the bike has just done it for me and lithium batteries now.

Not sure if that post was anything to do with me Legend but I took the plunge a couple of months ago and got a Shido, was great to start with but then stopped charging on the bike charging system completely,  I thought my Stator had failed at first but after checking everything I swapped the Yuasa over from my Mille and everything was sorted .
The Shido is going back to Tayna and I've ordered a new Yuasa from Halfords for the Mille.
I'm sure I just got a duff one ,as loads of people with our bikes swear by them, but I always had my doubts and this has just put me off completely so its Yuasa's all the way for me now, although I did love the extra CCA of the Shido I have to admit.

Just fitted lithium to mine and so far no problems, and the weight saving is immense.

My battery is not happy.

13.7 v without engine running, then drops very fast to 12.3 v with the lights on.

Will start the bike OK, but only if it's been standing connected to the Optimate.

So...what replacement battery is best?

The current fitment looks like a cheapoh...a Powerline?

I've had good results from an Odyssey on my KTM 950, which is a similar engine.

What are other's experience?
