Yep get an original Ape or a Yam OEM one.
The cheap ones don’t have the protective snubber circuit installed which prevent arcing during the contact closure, this creates a spark which damages the surface contacts then creates heat. Which is what youve seen. |

I upgraded the starter, pos & earth cables around a year ago and also upgraded the relay to a 150A type.
This relay lasted a week when it jammed the starter on after filling up. Cue lots of smoke next to a petrol pump followed by a cooked battery. This was replaced with n allegedly 'Japanese' solenoid. Now this one just clicks and will only start if i short the relay terminals. Am i doing something wrong, or is this bad luck/crappy electronics? Does anyone know of a decent source for the relay? |
