Just been looking at quotes for a 1.3 Suzuki Jimny (03), a Hilux (95) and a Pajero (92)..

I'm 34, had a license for 16 years, I have full protected no claims. I have 3 points and have had one accident go against me.

They want £460 (3rd party FT) for the Jimny

£680 for the Hilux and £980 for the Pajero

WTF???

There must be specialist insurers for that kind of thing. I would try to find one of those. Especially the Pajero as it's an import so most of the normal places will load it up.

A little off topic, but do you know what " Pajero " means in spanish ?

It may sway you not to get one .

If you have a bit of spare time then phone several different brokers or even insurance companies directly, remember go compare etc are all brokers so you will be paying a brokerage fee, often when speaking to the broker you can negotiate the price down, plus they'll often be able to tell you why a certain vehicle is more expensive to insure.

I'll give it a whirl. I can hear my credit card straining under the weight of this mini obsession! I'm half tempted just to spend the money on a big bore at Griff's.

My Landy is normally around 300ish, but it is very modified and all declared.

Adrian Flux are normally quite good, esp if modded, but can be pricey. Lancaster Insurance usually quite good and Annetts & Orchard are definitely worth a ring. Also try Footman James.

Hope this helps
Question everything.

I seem to remember the NFU ( National Farmers Union I think ) specialize in that sort of vehicle and they used to be cheaper than anyone else. Give them a try.
