Well it's that time of the year again and this time round I decided that as I seldom ride on the road these days I'd forgo some of the extras I'd been paying for and never using.
It was a bit of an eye opener as to what they consider mods these days, apart from the usual things you'd think of like Nos,B/Bores and exhaust systems which you can understand, they are now into paint, decals, aftermarket levers, footpegs, lights, braided brake lines and the list goes on and on. Anyway, checked a couple of places online and got a decent quote so decided to just grab it as it was far more realistic than my renewal. Then had to call my current insurers to tell them I wasn't going to renew and they said they'd have matched my new price Now a few quid here and there I can understand but to be able to arbitrarily go from nearly £170 to £93 is just taking the p*ss as far as I'm concerned. To be able to have a help line lopping that amount off just to keep a customer is beyond belief, premiums must be inflated out of all proportion. Profiteering on that scale would make the bankers jealous,it's almost like they are just pulling figures out of air. Barstewards |

A mate of my brothers used to work for an insurance firm and he said pulling figures out of the air was basically exactly what they did. And start stupid high as some folk out there are too easily parted with their cash.

Sounds about right
I hate the thought of creeping socialism but perhaps market forces should be kept away from something as necessary as vehicle insurance. Discuss. As our american allies say |

Socialism, capitalism, whateveryoufancyism. It's like all things in life. A little from here, a little from there. Everything in moderation. Too much of one thing and it all starts going awry. Next thing you know your throwing paint and cereal at a cafe ffs.

Now that I really can't explain
Some people must just have too much time on their hands, perhaps they should have their benefits stopped then they'd have to get a job to survive. |

Bennet`s saved me over £100 this year and they have a list of 16 mods you have done to your bike.
Just click the box of what you have done and the quote comes through, happy days. This was done through go compare

It was Bennett's I ended up going with and Carol Nash who said they'd have matched the new premium.
I doubt they'd have come down that much though if push came to shove, the last time I tried it with them the help line guy got abusive and put the phone down on me Que several years of alternating between Bennett's and Adrian Flux. I was told by someone from Axxa once to never roll a policy over for a second year, even with them as there are always better deals for new customers somewhere else. I dare say if I'd have carried on I could have got fully comp protected bonus from somewhere else for less than £92 a year but tbh I couldn't be ar*ed with the faffing about. But it just proves what a rip off insurance is considering it's something we have to have by law. |

Bennett wouldn't cover a Tuono (gen2) with a power commander back in may... think I read that it was a bug in the system tho so hopefully resolved now.
I always shop around ! :) |

I must admit to rolling over the CN cover last year,I just couldn't be bothered to look elsewhere.
This year I was going to do the same but decided that as I do more time/miles on track than road these days that I was probably a little over insured, so at the last minute I decided to make a few inquiries. I'm still undecided what to do with the bike but at least I'm covered for riding if I decide to,if not then what I paid premium wise is hardly worthy of note in terms of tanks of fuel. Atm the bike is stripped for extensive servicing and possible upgrades as I have 4 spare barrels,gen2 heads complete and a set of 57's sitting collecting dust so it seems silly not to use them. Just need a set of gen2 headers to cut up now then there'd be no excuse not to do it. First step though is a full strip and rebuild of the front forks which I've wanted to do for the last couple of years but found the garage too cold and uninviting over the winter. This time when I got back from the last track day I put it on the Abba stand and immediately stripped it down before I had a chance to talk myself out of it. Look at the cracking weather we've had since I even thought about putting it back together just for the next few days but it's too much hassle now. |
