So the other I decided to treat my 2005 Falco to some sweet loving at Aprilia Performance.

I trailered it the 90 or so miles to Tamworth and let them at it - a full service and a few other bits that took most of the day.  I particularly liked that I was encouraged to go into the workshop and watch while the work was being done, irrespective of how much of an annoying cock I am asking loads of questions and getting in Al's way as he went about his business.

The service highlighted a few things that needed to be replaced, specifically the one-way clutch valve, the rear sprocket and the lower bush in the suspension linkage.  They also had to drill out the front exhaust bung, something Lewis said he sees in up to 3 in 10 bikes they have in.

On top of the time spent and attention to detail, I also liked the fact that Al went over every nut and bolt he touched with a white marker to confirm it had been torqued.  He also cleaned everything as he went.

My throttle bodies turned out to be miles out at 1.1 front and 7.8 rear instead of 3.5 for both.  Griff said to me I would really notice the difference, as now my Forza chip/GPR cans/AP open airbox kit /K & N would finally be working harmoniously.

It took until this weekend (over a week after my visit) until I got the opportunity to try out the Falco and see how different it felt.  Conscious of the placebo effect, I went on a pretty long ride on all sorts of country roads.  The conclusion: the bike seems to have about 10 more bhp in the midrange, much better throttle response, and is far keener to lift the front wheel on the power.  I could not be happier with the work that was done and the service I received.

I normally work on my own bikes and am wary of the bike trade, but these fellas know their onions and deserve your business. I will be back there soon to dick around, eat lots of chips, ogle any female customers, and possibly even have my bike serviced.

Glad you had a positive experience with da boys Smile They're all good eggs and it's such a good experience down at AP, not like usual garages! Just wish they were closer, or it wasn't such a pain in the ass traffic wise to get down there!
