before you ask, there's nothing wrong with mine I was going to ask about a mod that may be possible but can't find info on......
When I had my vtr I did the stick coil conversion which did away with the coil pack and gave a bike a cleaner burn which gave it a little more power. Is it possible to do this with the tuono gen 1? Would it be a worth while mod and has anyone done this and have any feedback on it? My brain started ticking away today after doing some work so now I'm on over drive! haha

hat toy do is change the could pack with the joined by lead for a stick could which is an all in 1 unit which sits directly on the spark plug. In the case of the VTR you replaced the could packs and by leads for cbr600 stick coils. Quite how it worked I am now sure but it allowed a better spark and so increased the bang from each spark (small power increase and better burn) I did it on mine and so have quite a few friends and it showed in a dyno that it was a worth while mod (don't know exact figures as a friend did it on his)
Now I know mine has 2 spark plugs per cylinder so but I am unsure how these work? Do you get the main spark and then a smaller one to burn off the last of the fuel after the first detanation or do they both spark at more or less the same time? Depending on how the twin plug system works on the tuono I was wondering if it was worth doing to this bike. Maybe you would remove the need for 4 spark plugs or maybe it would be a case of converting all 4 with stick coils to still give a better "bang for your buck"

Yes you can add "stick" coils and it does work, I think (dont quote me on it) that ZX10 coils were the best fit.
The outer plugs fire slightly later than the inner plugs if I remember correctly.

Does nobody read what they've written before posting...........
Regarding what your suggesting, I would say the cost and hastle would far outweigh any advantage. Just my opinion. |
