Looks like my ECU is FUBAR'd, on my 07 Mille. Just another in a long line of problems. Does any one know if all Gen 2 ECU's are the same, or have certain years got different ones?

tuono and rsv1000r are different I believe
I would call the shop to check as I seem to think the later 08 ones are different again?

04/5 Ecu is the same. 06/7/8 etc use a different version ecu
Not sure on Tuono without cross referencing part numbers.

I thought the major difference was the T has the immobiliser built in?
But then I'm probably wrong again. |

Immobilisor is independent of the ecu on rsv and tuono. Don't see why the tuono ecu should be different. The map is what determines the tune rather than the ecu physically. It might mean a visit to Griff for an upload of the correct map

Leave a post for Gabro on AF1
He's cracked the ECU codes, and can reflash giving you a fair bit more poke. Much the same as the Forza chip upgrade in the GenI's

Tuono and RSV are deffo different
Consequently the tuono ECU's are way dearer secondhand. However, Gabro can now reflash a RSV ECU to work on a Tuono and vica veca...Huzzahhhh!!!!

Thanks for your input, everyone.
Tifa, if there's a fault on my ECU, surely a reflash wouldn't fix the fault? As Spoonz said, I could do with borrowing an ECU, just to confirm it is that, as the other option is, the coil breaking down under load, as it tests ok.

I guess it depends what's actually going on in the ecu?
Sometimes the RAM files just become a little corrupted and prevent it from working. RAM files are usually unaffected by a simple reboot (switching the ignition off, then back on...just like your computer when something locks it up or fails?) No harm in pinging an email over to Garbo? |

The error code is for a missing coil pulse so I expect it is physical but you never know. Depends how much a reflash costs. I saw used ecu's for about £45 on evilbay so if a reflash is anywhere near that I would just buy a used ecu.

No, there isn't, Tifa. Thanks.
Spoonz, the cheapest I've seen for a Gen 2 ECU is £100 +pp. You gotta link? Thanks for your reply.

not sure what year your bike is as to whether this is the right ecu. If it is could cover coils as well.

Thanks again, Spoonz. I'll check the numbers on my ecu, when I get home from work. Only problem is, the auction doesn't end for 9 days!

If it's different keep watching. There was a buy it now one when I looked last week @ £45. Might take a few weeks to find a bargain, depends how quickly you need it up and running. |

I only got it on t'road last Wednesday. It lasted 6 days. I'd replaced t'alternator, thanks to the extreme generosity of Chrismad, from this forum. I've had some financial problems, caused by another family member, which I'll be out of in t'next couple of weeks, hopefully. He's been an absolute diamond, and is a credit to the forum.

Just had a look, and all the numbers are different. The first one you put me onto, is a close match though, only one number is slightly different. Do you know which of the numbers are significant, as you can see, there are several different ones on there. Cheers.

Which numbers are you looking at ?
The Rotax number is the firmware installed. As long as that is for the right model of bike it doesn't matter as that can be updated via an axone. I posted the firmware revisions on here somewhere.

They are both the same ecu physically (number starting 5w) but the first one on ebay is running Tuono firmware (the rotax number). Your ecu is running 06-09 Rsv firmware.
if you got the ecu running the Tuono firmware it would need a reflash before you could use it. If you can get one without doing that it would save you the cost of reflashing.
