the clear coat on my gen 2 factory tank is peeling in a couple of place's and the graphics are slightly fading. the fading I can put up with but the clear coat is really bugging me as the bike is otherwise immaculate I have asked dream machine for a quote to repaint and new graphics which I imagine is going to be quite expensive so I was wondering if anyone has had any dealings with them good or bad.

Is the clearcoat cracking due to the tank deforming? If so no amount of lacquer is going to make it good as it'll continue to deform and crack.

Otherwise if it's just accidental damage forget I spoke Wink

I had two experiences with Dream machine.

First was okay though later I noticed an error in a graphic that had an air bubble under the lacquer. But it was barely noticeable hence it took a while.
The second was a top fairing. Took them a year to do! They kept having order issues for graphics from aprilia and despite me saying use image works they kept saying it wouldn’t match. In desperation I called image works and they said it would be close but would send me free cut offs to check. Well guess what it was practically perfect. To the point no one including me would know.
Only positive was they offered it at half price for the job…I said that wasn’t good enough and they did it for free!

So overall a result but I’d not say the paint work and finish was better than many out there. I’d go as far to say Hemi probably knows better

One of the best painters I’ve seen is apex custom paintwork, I’ve seen numerous of his work and it’s all been flawless.

Agree........

Not had anything done by D.M for many years so can't comment on their quality now. I had the side fairings on my GPZ750R (GPZ900R wannabe) done by Dream Machine back in the late 80's.........job was perfect, but they had the market sussed...take your panels to a dealer local to you and they would send it to D.M.
Nowadays there are many talented paint shops to choose from and word of mouth is the best advert in my view.
