Does a 2004 RSV Mille use an ECU with tachometer output?

Yes,
Like old style round ones. The bike I bought was a donor bike for a MicroCar project which now has the V-Twin from an RSV Mille. The bike was 2004 version. I want to use new (retro look) Smiths guages in the build but need to know if the Mille uses an ECU feed to send the tachometer signal and can't seem to find that info online so hoped that somebody in here might be able to help me. |

Looking at your build post's look's like a gen 1 eng does your ecu have a removable cover that would confirm it. Think it's possible to use different dash an electrical wizard will be along shortly.

Ok read this ...mentions wires going into the Ecu so I would say yes but this is a gen1 http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?273881-No-RPM-readout-on-dash-RSV-Mille-02 Get a Haynes manual for the bike ...diagrams will show you what's what If a gen1 go to page 34 of this and read you should get the info you need http://www.martinpoll.dk/diverse/Aprilia_RSV1000_Technical_training_course.pdf |

If it's a Gen2 ecu then the oem clocks have to remain in circuit although you can slave another third party clock from it.
Because of the CAN bus the ecu has to see the oem dash (or at least it's circuit board) in the loop.
